Recently scored these while thrifting:

Has a 'dated' feel and style about it - although the use of synthetics inside the yoke behind the label (combined with collar style) indicates perhaps '70s to me. Are the horizontal button holes a clue?

Anyone know when that registered trademark Wool Logo/Emblem came into use?

My favorite of the bunch. Much heavier, stiffer and scratchier. Definitely want to wear a long sleeve Henley under this one. Dig the angled pocket flaps. Inner lining/facing material is natural, not synthetic. Buttons are black GLASS.

Nice finds! I have a few Pendletons like the first couple you posted: straight hem, button-less flap chest pockets, top loop-closure and the yucky material at the yoke. The "pure virgin wool" logo puts it sometime after 1964 and, judging by the style, I'd say you're right about it being from the 70's. I think the tags changed shortly after that.

Hilarious. I just saw a dress in the Powder room I had in the 1970s. Memory Lane. I love Pendleton and wrote about plaid and it on my last blog. I have a Pendleton hat I need to add.

I love finding Pendletons while thrifting. The only unfortunate thing for me is, that the sleeves on the ones I find are all damn short. Which is a bummer, because I've found a ton with sweet leather elbow patches, that reached my tri-cep.

I'll post the couple of Pendletons I found that somewhat fit me.

I've noticed that too. Perhaps they were washed/dried badly and shrunk? I have had some luck dampening the sleeves and stretching them out and allowing to dry with some tension on them. The wool kinda' works with you. To an extent.

just scored a Vintage Pendleton jacket/blazer on eBay; will show some photos when it comes in; fabulous look, straight early 50's; can't find the cut and quality from any other mfg. that I've seen-the closest seems to be Vintage Filsons...

I would need to have them stretch about 6 inches, which wouldn't work at all. Which is a bummer, cuz I've found some great ones.

Personally, I don't think I could justify buying a full priced, brand new repro Pendleton. As much as I love them, they're expensive as hell for a flannel. But damn are they beautiful.

I have 3 pendletons, they're kind of hard to come by over here, but all mine are non-plaid,1 dark green with the suede elbow patches,1 taupe same style as the one with the loop for the top button and my favourite a darkish green with light blue and light green sort of north american indian pattern, beautiful shirts, I haven't worn anything but wool shirts,in the cooler months for a long time. Why are they so hard to come by?They're certainly a real rarity in the UK and with our climate you'd think they'd be easy to come by.It's a complete bloody mystery!

Nope. Damn things just made that way. That's why I gave mine away to Goodwill.

That IS weird. My comment was about a couple I've picked up where the sleeves just needed to be 'relaxed' about a half inch - - but now that I think about it, I did see a Pendleton once in a Goodwill and it had ridiculously short long sleeves. Otherwise it was proportioned as a medium but yeah, if I'd tried it on the sleeve ends would have been at or just below my elbows. [huh][huh]

The sizes of my 3 are 1med,1large and 1xl and they all fit me,the med is a tad tight under the armpits but not badly and nobody would think it looked small, the other two fit perfectly, the sleeve lengths are fine but then I'm 5'8'' maybe that's something to do with it.I just wish they were easier to get hold of in the UK.Just noticed the photo you posted Gene, that is a great looking jacket, fits you perfectly,so the sleeves are like a shirt and the body is a jacket? Is there any stiffening in the lapels, etc or is it just shirt material cut like that?

It is strange. Maybe everyone "buys UK" there because no doubt the woolens industry is huge there. For sure, Pendleton shirts are my favorite winter wear. I also have a solid dark green with the leather elbow patches; solid dark blue with patches; too many others to recount but all new models, nothing vintage.
