Pegasus HH vs. Aero HH

From my experience, I have find the Pegasus Horsehide to have this amazing grain variation and really intense rich grain formation with use. Aero, however, while having an awesome leather doesn't show the same grain characteristics. Both hides are combination tanned and both are full grain. Then why such a big difference in appearance? I know tanning process has a lot to do with it but anyone know more about this in terms of what's better?

And why does Pegasus HH have such luster and sheen?

I understand Aero offer a variety of horse hides now including Vicenza leather. Which particular skins are you comparing?

It's funny that the Pegasus site goes after others for their use of "shoe leather" for their jackets... but, with that aside, the answer is that CXL FQHH from Horween undergoes a final process of glass glazing, where a high pressure roller made of glass is rolled over the surface of the hide to give it almost a gloss type finish initially. It's the same way that they finish the Shell Cordovan. Anyone who's broken in a jacket made from CXL knows that the grain will eventually start to pop through, just not as much as in a leather that hasn't been finished this way. Other high end tanneries use similar processes, often "hot-stamping" the leather to reduce the grain initially. IMHO, it's all just personal preference in terms of how you want your jacket to look...

The Pegasus leather has some type of shiny clearcoat lacquer or something on it, that the Aero CXL FQHH doesn't have. Aero's is waxy to the touch initially. Pegasus' is shellacked feeling initially.
