Looks like you've managed to pick-up either a prototype or a custom order....Very Nice !
Pecards gives a similar finish , slightly darker perhaps, and just a bit quicker , with maybe more rain protection ?

Pretty sure I saw that one on ebay, it was advertised as the "Captain America" jacket right? Obviously not his costume, this one.

I liked it and was looking at the Detroit at the time, but it was a size to big. Glad its gone to one of the FLers and I think you've definitely improved it ;D

No relation to Captain America. Advertised as a custom Alexander half belt. Went through a couple of owners who tried it on and moved it on.

That actual jacket, if I recall, was made by Aero.

You would know better than me, but from what I remember about the listing (and I did have a good look and even emailed AL re sizing etc to confirm as I was going to buy it) the guy that listed it originally...everyones favourite DrifterProductions....lets just say he strongly implied that AL had supplied the original jackets for the movie...

Actually, I always check my facts, as you should. From that little Q&A with Ken in April last year:

Q: How long did it take to get the Aeromarine right?

A: With the Aeromarine, there were three test samples before I made one, then I made another, but then Julie wanted to make it with a different leather and lining, so that was six - the fifth and sixth were right. That's quite a few. But it was the Dustbowl that had more samples than any, because we just kept changing the panel configuration or changing the cuff, we would put little gussets in the back, or we would look at how much top-stitching there was, especially across the yoke, and then we'd talk about it, which version worked. We're all in this together, everyone can chip in. It's a democracy here, everyone can have a say.

Turns out my shorthand's not too bad. Certainly good enough for court copy. ;)

We're talking about the prototypes and film jackets from the 2011 Captain America Film Craig ! Which was based around the Bootlegger design not the Aeromarine .... I don't doubt that Julie sewed some of them together .... but these were jackets that were in the concept stage in early 2010 as I recall and there were lots of prototypes ( at least from what I saw when I visited in early 2011) in fact Will and Co. at Aero were dedicating a huge amount of time to the project to get it done.

The one I looked at certainly wasn't a 1930's fit, it was more of a 70's collar on a 1980's jacket with a really narrow waist .... and it was made by Vicky if memory serves ( at least that's what I was told, I never actually saw her sewing it together) ..... it was one of the reasons I ordered my Detroit from Alexanders when they first formed and the main reason I had the mods done which I did.

As I recall Anna Sheperd did the designs for the movie and Aero manufactured some of the jackets ( not all I was told .. e.g the and none of the non leathers). It wouldnn't surprise me if Julie did the sewing ( at least some of it as there were a lot of jackets) ... she is an incredibly skilled machinist and made some AMAZING jackets for the vintage Levis collection.

Julie is doing an interview with Rick at Film Jackets next month about the creation of all the jackets for Captain America. She has all the original documentation, design modifications, studio notes etc in her archive records as she was the only member of Aero staff to work on the project, so it should be an interesting piece!
