This just came in the mail yesterday. It's the one I bought that I didn't really need but couldn't really resist. It looked like a dove gray in the pictures but it turned out to be a pearl white instead. Still has the price tag of $10.95 on the sweatband. It was a size too small for me but I put the trusty hat stretcher in it and now it fits perfectly. Crown is 5 3/4, brim is 2 3/8ths. Super light weight, a whopping 80 grams. Condition is just like it's off the shelf.

Beautiful. What do the insides look like?

Just like this one only in pearl white obviously. I now have 5 Playboys and 3 of them are like this, no liners with just the Stetson stamp in the middle of the crown. The other 2 have liners.

Oh, now that's a gem! Are Stetson Playboys made with rabbit fur?;)

Well dean that's a good question. After HATCO's post about their different fur blends, it's really hard to say with any authority what the Stetson of old put in their hats.

I think he was making a joke about playboy bunnies and the playboy hat.

Yup. Emoticon was supposed to be the give away. I'm in a whimsical mood today. I need absolution. Don't want the weak humor attempt to diminsh how absolutely stunning that hat is, Fedoralover. It amazes me how finds like that turn up. Will you be posting shots wearing it? What excellent example of a great find! I like thin ribbons, and that ribbon style is very nice, too.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you keep sayin' how your collection is as full as it ever need be. And then you go buy another one. Probably got it for next to nothing, too. Right?
I ran across that Playboy's twin at a shop in Butte a couple of weeks back (the same place where I scored a definite keeper, but that's another story) which looked just great when viewed from the rear. But the front of its crown had worn through at the top of the pinch. A shame, really, that a once splendid hat was irreparably damaged like that. Let it be a reminder to those who persist in grabbing their lids by the crown.

Tony, you sound just like my wife.

In all seriousness though, you are correct about the crown grabbers. This felt is so light that it wouldn't take much to wear it out by grabbing it at the front pinch.

What Douglas said...and more-very light colored hats are difficult- they can
look a little too much "uptown Saturday night"-but this one exudes class, pure
and simple class. Bravo!:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
