Has anyone else caught any of these shows? They've been playing on the local PBS station here on Sunday evenings. Well written and acted. Plenty of period clothing and autos.

Great show, it was on NRK1 here and I think it's on one of the Swedish channels as well.

I'm a big fan. There's a book about Foyle's war at the ABC shop, I flicked through it and it was fascinating; all about the characters and how the characters and events depicted in the show were based on real incidents and people. I didn't have the money to buy it at the time, though. I hope it's still there next time I'm in the area.

I've been enjoying the Foyle's War series as well. I only began watching this season but I'd like to catch the other seasons on DVD.

Slightly :eek:fftopic: but the Miss Marple series on Mystery is also good. Period costumes and such...

I recently purchased a television and subscribed to cable after years without. Foyles War, Miss Marple and others on Mystery! are among the few shows that keep me from cancelling cable and giving away the TV.

I love some of the suits and hats in the show. Has anyone else noticed that Inspector Foyle is a pincher? And, the taper in the crown? It looks a bit like the hat I wore while guiding upland game hunts...

I am a huge fan of Foyle (Michael Kitchen) and I am pleased to announce that there is a final season in production, i.e., Foyle's War VII, according to my Google search. To be shown in the UK later this year. Also a new three part mini-series Mobile, staring Kitchen.

HUGE fan of this series. Foyle kind of reminds me of a British Columbo.

Question, though: what's up with the brims on the fedoras? Almost none appeared to be snapped up or down, but sit almost perfectly perpendicular to the crown. Is that how the Brits wore theirs back then? Or do neither the actors nor costumers know how to properly wear a hat?

My wife and I just found the series is available at our public library. We can't wait to get home in the evening to watch the next episode. If time allows we watch two episodes in one sitting. My wife is not a fan of WW II, but the story lines have her hooked and it is beginning to stir some interest in the time period, clothing etc. Two thumbs WAY up.:eusa_clap

I just watched my first Foyle's War episode - Eagle's Day, I believe - and absolutely loved it. Now I want the whole series, but my checking account doesn't think so! Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, my library only had the one DVD. :(
