Thank you both, im very curious to check out the wind trolley as well. It almost looks like a flathead screw to me.

Might be a Mother of Pearl button that is just reflecting the light in that manner. It appears to be a faux wind trolley because it looks like it was sewn right to ribbon. That was a very popular thing with hat manufactures in the first couple decades of the 20th century.

Leisure Lite by Paragon - The Californian
Luxury Quality - Natural Colored felt
5 inch crown open - About 4 1/4 as shaped
1 1/8 champagne grosgrain ribbon
1 row of decorative brim stitching

I haven’t seen too many from this brand Paragon Hats on the lounge…. But the ones I did see I liked.. so I decided to take a flyer on the Leisure Lite by Paragon- Luxury Quality. It is very soft and thin felt in a natural tan-ish color. It has a 5 inch open crown that takes a crease with the touch of a finger. The ribbon is 1 1/8 in a champagne color. It does so port a wind trolley cord.. but the button is actually stitched to the ribbon. I wonder if this wasn’t just like a tacking stitch to hold it in place before purchase. The 2 1/2 inch brim has a raw edge… and is treated with an unusual single row of decorative stitching. The stitching is a similar style that would be used to attach a brim binding. I don’t think I’ve seen this used on a raw edge before. Makes for an interesting look. Some of these stitches are starting to fray. The felt is mostly in great shape.. though there are a couple fairly well hidden moth divots.. including one that goes clear through.. just under the hat band. The unreeded sweat is very soft and malleable… it is debossed with “The Californian”…. Maybe I’ll call this one. “The Brent”.

I don’t know anything about this brand…. But I’d put my age guesstimate as approximately a 1940s hat.
