Pants Cuffs

I need to hem a wide legged (24 wide around the hem) pair of pants for the hubby and also two pair for myself, but before I do that I am curious if there is a traditional cuff depth (as in how big should the cuff be). I'm aiming for a 40's swing style.

(Bartenders, if this is in the wrong thread, please move as needed - I tried the search but could not find anything specific to this subject.)

Thanks in advance!

Its closer to a 2 inch cuff. But taste varies. And this wouldnt be a `40s wartime look as there was rationing restrictions.

My best 1940s suit trousers have 2" cuffs. But they are very long pants for a tall person. Inseam is about 33. One might want narrower cuffs for a shorter person. Or not.

BINGO!!!!

There has always been a correlation between the height of a gent and the height of his cuffs, fashion aside.

Thank you all so much for your answers and that image - it was VERY helpful. I was thinking of a 2" cuff since he is 6'3" with a 33 inseam, so I'm on the ball, and the style of his pants is definitely pre-WWII.
