I would like to get a hat for my wife but I do not know what to get. she says she would wear a fedora type or a panama style. I'm thinking a panama would look more feminine. Any advice as to what to get her and where?
P.S. Sorry for being a posting hog!

I'm sure panamabob can advise you best - he seems to be the resident Panama expert. Here's the link to his site. I think he sells Montechristis and Cuencas.

Then there is Panama Hats Direct. I don't remember how I found them, but I recently got an email telling me they have a sale on at the moment - three different cuenca styles to choose from for $35 each. They seem to deal exclusively in Cuencas - no Montechristis.

I think both sites have explanations as to the differences between Cuenca and Montechrisi.

I haven't personally dealt with either of them, but I too would be very interested to know whether anybody has recent experience with either vendor they would like to share.

Thanks fatwoul, I will try both those sites!
ITG this may be a dumb question but do women use the same procedure for finding their size?(Soft tape measure in inches). Or do you add for more hair?

I don't know how much you want to spend but Hartford York has some lovely Borsalino panamas on sale. I've been ogleing the Andrea all summer, hoping the price will drop a little more.

You don't have to pay a high price for a Panama hat. Robert Weber/Pamamabob has them for $25.00 and up. A hat can be blocked into most any style ladies or mens.

The main difference besides block on a ladies hat is the bow is on the right hand side.

My mom got this at REI, on sale for 12 bucks.
It's not exactly a great panama, but for the money, I don't think it's all that bad.

They did have it on their website a couple days ago. Now it's registering as sold out.

They still have this one, though.

They may have them in their stores, though. It's an outdoors/ hiking kind of place. They've got some really nice stuff, but when stuff isn't on sale, it can be a bit pricey.
