Serious Semicaldo envy, GQ. Those two are awesome! Fantastic weave pattern and crown shape, both of them. The wide brim looks great with them, too.

Went out shopping in the San Diego area yesterday and came upon the Village Hat Shop. THe ladies inside were clueless and their customer service was laughable. Every decent hat had to be reached with a pole and you could tell they were not in the mood to be asked for hat after hat. Regardless I did find a nice little Stetson that I had never heard of. It is a discontinued style and I did get a discount after haggling with the saleswoman a little bit. I have some questions for you Panama experts though. What weave is this? What part of Equador do you believe it came from? Also I would like a rouigh grade idea. Thanks

I'm on a little phone and it's very sunny out here, but it loos like a bleached Cuenca, lower grade. Cuenca uses 20 grades. When I get home tonight, I will take a second look.

Mikespens, I didn't know if I would like that no dent or pinch look on me but I find I do like it a lot for a change.

Steve, love the semi and great ribbon color, you have a winner there......

Anyone spot this picture of Larry Hagman in what appears to be a very nice panama? I'm going to give the link to
the largest size for detail. I won't put it in as an image because it takes a while to load.

Don't know if it's this hat:

Based on the brim in the Resistol, I doubt it. Too much curve in the Resistol.
You owe me for having to see those eyebrows that close up.:eeek::p

Dried out vintage Panamas

Some of my vintage Panamas are really drying out, to the point that I'm afraid if I handle them I will break some fibers.... Does anybody have a good way of treating this?.

I would start by hanging them in the room with your shower. Not to get them wet, but the steam from the shower will help.

I can't help but believe that most places in Virginia would be humid enough to keep them in good condition. But only having visited, I'm just guessing
