A montecristi that came from Cuba to Buler to me... I think the prettiest weave and form of any that I have owned.

The Brent Black count is now up to four. Looks much better on my wife than on me. But then again all my hats do. I will wear it a few times to see if it's just a matter of me getting used to the wider brim. If not she will claim it. It came a bit snug. I'm between a 1/8 and 1/4. This is a 1/8. A little steam did the trick. I bought this out of the classifieds from @singlechange. I had a couple of extra BBB pins from two Panamas I sent to @Art Fawcett for ribbon treatments. So one of the pins now has a home.

Hey Bill:
I really really like this Plantation. I think it’s nicer than any i’ve ever seen.
Everything looks better on the wife but if i was you, even having such wonderful high quality straws as your’s, i’d keep it.
Sometimes a Plantation is the only hat that will do!!

Very nice hat indeed, I don't get that lining thing though. Did you specifically ask for lining or does Panama Hats Direct deliver all of their hats lined?
It's just not really a standard in case of panamas since first of all they're summer / tropical head wear, providing shade beside good ventilation and doing it all in the most stylish way.

I really like that hat. Great pug color...
Thanks, Bob. At first, I was a little disappointed at the color of the band because it looked more black in the seller's pics. This velvet-y purple has grown on me. It works extremely well with the hat.

Why can't I find one like that in size 7 1/4!
I know what it's like to seek vintage in scarce sizes. All you can do is, frankly, wait. At least if you find a vintage in your size it likely belonged to an adult. Most of my clothing probably belonged to a kid that outgrew it! Doesn't make me feel very proud!

Are you really complaining about the scarcity of vintage hats in 7 1/4? Come spend a day in my 7 5/8 to 7 3/4 head. Unless you count the 1980s as “vintage” you’re going hatless...maybe a bit of overstatement, but not much.

Man, I can't even imagine that. I have seen some great hats for your size, but they attract bids like moths to virgin wool, for obvious reasons. I feel blessed to be a 6 7/8 - 7.

I doubt other Loungers immediately found the best hats, suits, shoes, etc. At one point, they had crap to start out with. Think of your hat as a "placeholder" until you get the dream panama. Besides, it will give you a juxtaposition. A mediocre quality hat, and then a premium quality hat. Something to think about.

If nobody else will say it, I will. This guy has been "looking" for a Panama for so long, that if he'd bought the first one he saw, it'd almost be vintage by now. Almost troll-like in this quest. At a 7-1/4, how rare can one be?

If you are referring to me, I am not a troll. I would like to find one but not going to pay an outrageous price just to get one.
If my postings are excessive and bother you, then I will not post anymore. To all the others, thank you for helping.
