Palladium Boots?

I found these to be good for canoe trips, no slipping on muddy banks, enough support for portages, and they'll dry out in the sun afterward. The treads do tend to trap gravel though, so often that I find myself inspecting the soles before heading indoors and gouging someone's floor finish.

I have two pairs of Palladium Boots. One pair has leather on the lower parts of the boot, with the upper part being canvas, much like a U.S. Army issue Jungle Boot. The other pair is an all canvas boot, except for the rubber sole of course. I use the boots for casual wear and for light hiking/hunting. The pair with the leather lowers is my favorite boot for fair weather hunting here in Northern Alabama. Both pairs are very comfortable and provide adequate cushioning and support for my needs. By the way, I am about 235 pounds so, probably a little heavier than average.

I would list the Pros and Cons of Palladium Boot as follows:

Pros - Comfortable
Light Weight
Decent support for light hiking
Looks good with jeans or khakis
Dry fairly quickly if you get them wet
If you shop around a little they can be had a reasonable prices

Cons - Not enough support for rough terrain
Zero water resistance (maybe a silicone water resistant spray might help but, I haven't tried it on mine)

Welcome to the Lounge,
You can get waterproof palladiums (I think they do around 50 different styles/colours that are waterproof) and in the past they have done specialised hiking boots although I don't think they currently do any, I always consider them to be a more comfortable, tougher alternative to Converse.

Hi everyone,
i just got a pair in brown leather and have been using them for a few days. At first they were a little tight, but have streched out quite a bit. They are quite confortable in dry weather above 0C (14F), below that I prefer insulated boots that have a liitle more ankle support. The quality of the leather is OK but not waterproof. We had a little snow these days in Spain and they would get soaked in 5 minutes.
Personally I find them more confortable when tied up all the way. For the summer I plan on getting some in canvas.

I wore a pair to Burning Man, and they were absolutely perfect for that purpose! As others have said, I don't know if I'd trust them for heavy hiking etc. I did use mine quite a bit for trucking around town, etc. before I destroyed them at The Burn

Just ordered a pair of palladium pallabrouse legion boots. This will be my second pair of palladium boots. I have worn them mostly around town, but, wouldn’t hesitate to wear them on a hike in south Texas...or anywhere else so long as it isn’t cold and wet.

Glad to see there are still some Palladium fans around. I have the the classic canvas Hi Originales in khaki. I wear them almost year round and my current pair are almost 10 years old. They are the perfect boot for a Texas summer. Unless they ruin them in some crazy way, I'll continue to buy them for the remainder of my time on this beautiful planet. I highly recommend!
