Painted A2 from the 388th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force

The more I read about the 8th AF the more I realise that crews flew in various B-17s. So a guy might get his jacket painted in the style of the nose art on one plane only to serve in several others on his tour.

This was true everywhere.

My Dad in the 15th Air Force once told me that he often flew planes other than their original due to damage or maintenance. He records bears this out.

FYI: This is a link to a story where a B-17 pilot flew, among other missions, a plane named "Shy Ann".

Thanks for this. Shy Anne is not listed for the 388th but Sky Ann is. It was a B-17G and the painting on my jacket is a B-17F. There are still many planes where the name has not been recorded. The search to identify Kazzy goes on.
