Who’s the Grandaddy? Living in Scotland means you can wear a jacket all year.

The first brown sports jacket is awsome, dont know what it is but i dig it, be well brother!
Looking back through this tread i see i forgot to answer you. I think i got lost when Downunder G Man took over and made the thread his daily ride thread. Thank heavens that guy’s long gone!
Anyway...the brown jacket is one of my pride and joy jackets and very special.
It is a one off Aero half belt from a trial hide Aero was thinking of using but was to costly. Antique Steer it was called. The plaid wool lining was the last of a roll from a closing mill and one off as well.
Aero offered it to or built it for @HoosierDaddy who graciously sold it to me much to the chagrin of several members here. Arggh
I am very grateful to HoosierDaddy for it. It is a keeper for life and amazing hide.
Thanks
Bowen

Ps: @HoosierDaddy get well.

I love this thread. It continues to inspire and challenge my preconceptions.

I used to think that there were ‘younger’ (eg x-zip) and ‘older’ (flight) people styles of jackets and that it was harder for us old folks to wear the younger people styles.

I’ve come around to a new perspective- that some styles suit certain body types better. A cafe racer doesn’t work after some middle aged spread, for example.

But most importantly, an old guy in an old looking jacket can never go wrong. We all assume it has been worn hard in his youth and is full of stories of adventure. The only think that can look incongruous or odd is an old guy in a shiny new jacket.

So I am responded to west my new jackets around the house as much as possible until winter arrives here!

Seeing this thread pop up again makes me think of @HoosierDaddy and how I miss his posts. The man said what he thought and he wasn’t afraid to get into an argument if he felt it was warranted.
I miss him too. He joined a few months after I did, so we sorta grew up here together and had a lot in common. When he told me about his cancer, I had a feeling it wouldn't end well. I should have taken that motorcycle trip up to Fairmount years ago. Had planned to do it several times, but something always came up.

he was a great artist with a strong opinion, RIP. We'll meet our end in our personal way, we shall not fear it, for non religious person it's a full stop, and for religious person it is a gate into the real thing

I won't ever forget reading a post somewhere long ago, where someone asked anyone who'd been clinically dead but came back what was it like. One person said that while once the cessation of the brain function took place, there was basically nothing in the fullest sense of the word - Perfect nothingness was what they termed it, or something to that effect - but once they became conscious that they are returning to life, the very first thought their mind formed was "Not this shit again!". About this particular phrase I am certain. It stuck in my mind immediately.

Later on, during my... psychonautic travels, I may have gotten even closer to understanding what they meant, which touches upon your comment - There is no difference between the two states.
Both are one.

Supposedly, speaking of painting, Da Vinci said how "There are no edges in nature". I don't think it was Da Vinci who actually said that but I know that it applies to existence in its entirety.
