Outerwear indoors

Apologies if this has been answered before.
Would you gentlemen wear any of your leather / suede jackets indoors, in lieu of a suit jacket? I'm not talking about super heavy horsehide, but for example soft goat suede.
There are situations when a suit jacket, even a blazer, seems too formal, while a shirt with nothing on it may be insufficiently warm or otherwise unsuitable. Also, a leather jacket creases less (horsehide breaking-in notwithstanding) than a wool blazer and is therefore more suitable for travel. Cardigan would be an option, but I would certainly accept for example a denim trucker jacket. Would you accept a leather version of same or another type of light leather jacket?

I would just quietly presume a person wearing a leather jacket indoors to be: a) a functional mental defective of some sort, b) a poseur, c) in the midst of taking a photo for the 'What Jacket are You Wearing Today?' thread, or d) a person trying to break a jacket in. If you're in an office or a room, unless it's really cold or a pub, you'd remove a leather jacket. It would be as weird as someone walking around in an overcoat when inside.

But I'm sure we've all done it.

By definition, wouldn't a mental defective be dysfunctional? To answer the original question: in the world where in warmer months grown men of all social classes wear t-shirts, shorts, and sandals or sneakers in public, and women of all ages and body shapes sport "athleisure" outfits or leggings, a denim or a light leather jacket is no less appropriate to any occasion than a wool blazer or a cardigan.

Never. IMHO, blazers and leather jackets serve entirely different purposes and I would never substitute a leather jacket for a blazer.

I will wear my lighter leather and denim jackets when in the office. The office is very cold so I can do so without getting odd looks from co-workers but mainly I do this because I enjoy wearing them. If I wear a jacket out to dinner I take it off when seated, but other than that I will happily wear them when indoors.

If we have clients or visitors in the office I do replace the leather or denim jacket with a more formal sport coat/blazer.

Does it not partly depend on the style of the leather jacket? Some such jackets are clearly overcoat-substitutes, while others are jacket (what Superfluous calls a blazer) substitutes. Wearing the former is quite inappropriate indoors.

Not if the lady in question carries two hundred or more pounds on her frame, or wears adult diapers under her tight leggings (seen it; still shocked). Even if that's not the case, I still prefer the feminine form to be covered with more substance, leaving something to my imagination. Call me old-fashioned.

Im back! after a long time away, it feels good to be back amongst all the leather junkies who we all probably have a mental defect to do what we do! In any case does it not also depend on the situation indoors? For example Ive worn leather jackets inside at the bar plenty. I would not and cant because of my job ever wear my jacket at work. I thankfully have a boss who bought me embroidered long sleeve and short sleeve collared shirts I can wear 90% of the time. The other 10% is either usually a dress shirt and tie, or a blazer/suit coat or even a nice cardigan over a shirt with no tie. For very formal or important meetings then theres the full ensemble. But again its situational no one bats an eye at me other than to compliment or ask about where I got my jacket if I wear it at the bar.

If it is not a funeral, wedding or a business meeting I wear what I want to wear. I wouldn’t give it second thougth to wear a light leather jacket indoors if that’s what I feel is my garment of choice for that occasion.
