I wish we could make our own vintage town. Wouldn't it be just lovely? Too bad... shakeshead

I could be the librarian! I'd love to work in a library full of old books.

Need an REA delivery service

Didn't Kim Basinger, one of Hollywood's lovable liberals, buy herself a town in the south a few years ago? How did that work out? Well, enough of that.

As for "our town" I'll be the Railway Express Agency delivery man bringing smiles to people via the green truck with the red diamond on the sides. And none of the knotheads at the top that ran it into bankruptcy in 1975 like Enron and now AIG.

My boyfriend and I will for sure come live in the town! I think I'm about halfway through reading the thread, but I couldn't wait to post!

Someone mentioned a lawyer, my boyfriend could easily fill that position.

I know we've already got a bunch of seamstresses lined up, but since I will soon be graduating with a degree in historical costuming I could assist them by being a uniform designer for the local police, the restaurants, armed services, etc! And my vintage pattern collection would finally be put to good use (I work in the biggest commercial pattern archive in the country and I get to buy all the duplicates cheap).
I could also be the weekend librarian - I'd be happy to donate my vintage books!
And when school was in session, I could put my other degree to use...I could be the high school's French teacher.

Ah, I'm off to dream about such a place.

I'm sure this nifty place already has one, but I'd most definitely own a restaurant of some type!

in our vintage town I'd be...

The Girl Singer at the town's USO club (or maybe its an American Legion Hall) that has a huge wooden floor, where everyone can come dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. Oh, and I'd help teach dance lessons with my DH Chuck. Our 12-1/2yo DS and 14-1/2yo DD can help with running the snacks and sodas counter.

Looking forward to working with you in our dream town ;) Did you also combine costuming; apparel construction, pattern drafting, textiles with anthropology? Best major/minor ever.

No, I actually study it for theatre/film purposes. So It's technically a theatre degree, but that's what I'm trained to do when I finish. My second major is French (totally unrelated, except in its handiness with terminology.
