Cassettes were around since the 60s. CDs were introduced by Philips around 82/83.

This is all terribly fftopic: and we should get back on topic, but cassettes were out in the 1970s and CDs started to show up around 1983 or so.

And I remember first reading about HDTV around 78/79. The article, in TV Guide, said it was about 20 years away.

I saw a CD dated 1980.

Maybe the material on it, but not the disc. The technology wasn't ready until 1982 and late '82 at that.

Funny how I mention 8 tracks and now this topic has turned around towards what media source was available at the time. That man in the parachute pants seemed like a pretty cool guy.
