So I guess I am not destined to have a premier Stratoliner. The first was too small, ok, that can happen.

The replacement just arrived. Instead of a beautiful open crown waiting to be bashed, I find a horrible, shallow c shape, already pressed in by dirty fingers!

The company sent me a hat that someone else had bashed, stained, and returned, without checking it before they sent it.

Free shipping both ways means this just cost my time and good will. But really?

That money is now being redirected to my second Gannon fund!

not surprised in the least ... this is why I hate ordering modern mass manufactured hats from anywhere ... doesn't matter who
I've had bad experiences with the most reputable hat shops

it really is all about walking in and touching the hat you will walk out with whenever possible

Things may have changed, but when I visited the US two years ago, I found that I was indeed not destined to own a Premier Strat - or any other new Stetson! I went to a hat store in Nashville where I handled a handful and was deeply disappointed!

Of the eight Premier Strats and Sovereigns I all in all handled during my visit, eight should never have left Garland. At least I'm sure, they would never have left Philly. They all suffered from flaws and errors in the range from "obvious" to "unbelievable".

Hopefully Stetson have stepped up their quality control big time and hired someone to carry out the garbage. I for one refuse to buy a hat for sentimental reasons only.

The "high quality" Stetsons are not imported to Denmark, so had I not visited the US I might have bought one from a website. Fortunately I didn't ;)

Once bought a hat from that seller. As an extra surprise I got an unmentioned, very thin spot on the front top of the crown (from creasing) - plus a hole right through! The seller informed me, he didn't have the time to check each item that thoroughly ...!!?!!!

Wow. It will hopefully steam up OK. You'll make it look grand!

Several months ago, my wife had some uranium refrigerator glass storage pieces she purchased on eBay. The seller just put them into a box with no packing material at all. You can guess what it looked like by the time it got to our house.

"Uh, honey, I don't think it's supposed to make that jangly sound when you shake it!"

I've only made 2 ebay purchases but I made it explicitly and perfectly clear each time that the hat, crown and brim were not to be shipped bent, folded, crushed, creased, compressed or wrinkled in any way whatsoever or there would be big problems down the road and both were packed beautifully.

Wiseman to get that STRAIGHT Up Front , before the boobie prize came . Put a little fear in them , most want that great rating . Bad reviews stop potential buyers .

Makes you worry if we'll ever succeed in finding intelligent life anywhere in the Universe!

With your skills and a little steam, I'm sure it'll turn out beautiful - but I absolutely understand you. Sometimes one is left with nothing but the hope for a few holes in stupidity!

I don't think you saying that had anything to do with the hats showing up perfect.
98% of people who sell hats are not morons who shove it in a flat rate box.
Of the hundreds of hats I've bought on eBay and other places like Etsy and goodwill I've encountered all but 2 morons

Both cases are documented on this forum.

One was a Dobbs cc from some lunatic who sent me a profanity littered email .... Phototrapper or whatever his eBay name is.
And the other this Mallory from goodwill

I remember that Photocrapper post but just giving specific shipping instructions can't hurt and may possibly help. My second shipper never shipped a hat before and giving her specifics made me feel more comfortable.
