Well now you can certainly tell us if the hat lives up to the mythical hype from Buler’s post in 2009 :)

https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/stetson-three-hundred-or.39411/

I got a Stetson 300! It is a modern hat (it was gifted to the seller's Godfather, in 1969), but I am hopeful the felt will be good.
Here is Stephen's account on the hat's procedence:

He told me he was invited to be in a wedding party
1969
His friend was a judge from the New York area and married a girl from texas
He showed up at the wedding in his Tuxedo and was presented the hat along with the other groomsmen as a gift for being part of the wedding party.
When he got back to Canada he covered it with plastic and never wore it again.
New old stock he called it lol

So, I feel lucky to have acquired it! View attachment 218882 View attachment 218882 View attachment 218890 View attachment 218883 View attachment 218882 View attachment 218887 View attachment 218886 View attachment 218885 View attachment 218884 View attachment 218883 View attachment 218882

I’ll have my hot foil stamping machine paid off in no time! ;)

FWIW, here's the inside of a recent Stetson Pinnacle.
No XXXs but they do mention it's an Excellent Quality hat just in case you weren't sure.
Same sweatband as all of the other ones which was disappointing, you think they'd go a bit more upscale for this model as it's a good one but nope.

The second two hat victory involved these two very cool.. but also very small hats at 6 3/4. Being that the seller made me a wonderful deal on the two hats and her story of her Great Grandfather to whom they belonged. I decided to take a chance on them.

Her Great Grandfather was a Chief of Police in Poland during WWII and holocaust survivor. He spoke 7 languages and saved many people from being killed. He also hid in an attic for 2 years with only a bible so as not to be found. A strong man that lived to be 88.

By some small miracle these 6 3/4 hats fit perfectly. A medium brown Lee with “panda felt” and a tan Mallory. I can only guess this tough old man crammed his size 7ish head into these size 6 3/4 hats for many years. I did change the very short telescope bash he had in the Lee as it looked rather weird on me... but I believe I will leave the Mallory exactly as he had it. I am proud to own these two very cool hats and to know and share some of their story.

Ahhh, yes, good old dad down there in God's Waiting Room, only selling it to keep his iron lung from being repossessed, only taken out of the box once when the shades were drawn...
