Wondering if any of you ever bought anything like at auction that you thought later, "what was I thinking?"
Just wondering cause I am winning something I don't even want now. Pays to read the description in the heat of passion. lol I even put a few bids in to cover it.
Praying for a sniper. lol
Buyers remorse anyone?

Don't even ask! I have a closet full of junk that will one day be put back on auction at EchoBravo; errors and rejects all. Hidden from sight they are, lest I receive additional humiliation from my girl if she discovers my pile of shame.

Which prompts the question; has everyone heard that great parody song by Al Yankovik about eBay? here's the link: http://www.arking.com/ebay/

yes, quite a few times when i have gotten excited about something, paid more than i would normally for something...then to have it arrive and it not fit, or be not as attractive as described...

i usually hide them in one side of my closet for a while... i do have plans to re-sell things on ebay or something though...

YES ! I won a pair of shoes i call The Banana shoes, when i found them on Ebay i some how managed to trick myself into believing they were the ideal shape , you know, a 40's round toe , like babydolls, ( they were red , the ideal colour ) and when they arrived they were so wrong !
I think i must have hoped they would morph into what i wanted while in transit, they didn't :(
They were a really weird shape, kinda like a banana, anyways i never buy shoes now online unless there are pics from all angles.
Oh , i resold them on Ebay. Hope no one here bought them

Oh yes. I have been there. Kind of caught in the moment "Oh! Wow! One of these exists! I have to have it just because it does!"
Then the... "oh wait... it's not my size". And my bank account says "no." And "I hope I get outbid".
But sometimes I'm glad I did it anyways.

Oh yeah, I have ton of those items. I especially love the items I bid on knowing they're too small, and telling myself 'You'll lose more weight!'. Nope.

I have a wedding dress that will fit one of my thighs. I may have to set the date a few years later just so I have enough time to starve myself for a while to get into it. Spur of the moment craizies I call them.

A few items, but the main ones right now are a 1930's dress (sheer!) and a cocktail suit - Both of which will fit, but they're just too posh for me!
I was really excited until about an hour after bidding had ended, then I was thinking about how re-list them!
Lovely dresses, just not me :(

I'm currently trying to only bid on the last day, which usually gives me a good few days to a week to really think about, and come up with a reasonable price/reason for buying/where to wear it etc... It's going well... Apart from the necklace in "Shoe us your purchases"!! :D

I bought these. I wound up paying $150 for them. I wound up wearing them for my wedding so I justified the high price that way. But I put in a huge e-snipe bid and they were cheap until the last minute but I felt sick after the auction was over. I was so upset about it when my hubby asked is I had won them I just said that I didn't want to talk about it. I posted them on the purchases thread and the nice ladies on here made me feel better about it.

If it's any consolation EPR, they are lovely shoes and if you were to buy a pair like that at the majority of the UK vintage fairs you'd end up paying around that price anyway!

I do know what you mean about that sick feeling though!;)

Not too many regrets...I spend a fair bit on the purchases I do make, so don't buy that often (maybe one or two ebay items per fornightly pay) and weigh up how much I want the item carefully. Sometimes I do take a deep breath after an auction seeing how much money I've committed!

I do sometimes buy pieces I'm uncertain about because they were bargains, and for the most part have loved them when they arrived. I've done some very silly things, though - bought an i-Pod ripoff without properly reading the seller's feedback (which would have told me the seller was dodgy) and bought a spelter and ivorene sculpture I should have known had problems, but I bid in hope that these issues would somehow not matter when it arrived. It's stuck in a drawer somewhere, having broken in transit. All part of the learning process.

epr25, if it's any consolation even I love the shoes, and I'm not usually all that into peeptoes. What a lovely colour and style!

Hoo boy--does this thread speak to me today! I have been on this buying frenzy and just bought a vintage suit just because. Not like I wear them for my job, but just in case I interview for this one position that I'm not sure I even want. Bah! But you never know when a nice vintage suit will come in handy, right?
