Ordering an Aero Highwayman

Hey guys before I order my Highwayman help me make sure I'm not missing anything important.
-Sizing
-Brown
-Nickel Hardware
-2 inch leather strip across bottom
-Red lining
-Double zip chest pockets

Leather facing inside the cuffs?
Storm cuffs?? yes or no?

Anything else?

A lot of your specs are personal preferences. Sizing is always my biggest challenge. Make sure you study others highwaymans, their body structure, and how it compares to yours, and how you want it to fit, snug,loose, long, true, ect.
The others like linning and color choices are something that you (or in my case, wife sister and mother) should decide.

Most of what you brought up is "window dressing" and mainly need to address sizing issues. Do you have long arms or a long torso that might dictate an inch or two being added to the back length or arm length? How tall are you; what is your weight; what is your shirt size; and what is your usual jacket size? I gather you are ordering red cotton drill lining. If you are in a warm climate (Texas, Florida, etc), you might wish to order your jacket without storm cuffs. Rather than ordering double zip chest pockets, you might want to order a vertical inside pocket with snap closure. IMO the zip chest pocket is not very useful from a functional standpoint. More detailed information, specifically regarding your size, might enable more of us to possibly help you, although Amanda at Aero should process your questions better than I.

Storm cuffs are great for keeping out a draft - just like A2 cuffs, but the 'innie' version.... I wouldn't advise them on a leather you intend to wear in warmer weather, and if that's the case I'd be suggesting goat or medium horse rather than FQHH...

If you want an inner pocket, ask for one - they're not part of the standard Highwayman pattern. Mine doesn't have an inner pocket. I have to work round that, It's not three hundred odd quid's worth of an issue (although new, mine was an Apprentice Made special Aero sold new for less than half price), but given the choice I would opt for one. I prefer the G1 style pockets, ymmv.

As Fanch wrote. Length may be a consideration. I'd add at least an inch to the standard length. Maybe two. Depends on your size and preferences.

Thanks guys. I have a trucker jacket from Levis that is a medium that fits good. 22inches pit to pit. 26inch sleeve, 19 inch shoulder. it's 27inches from collar the the bottom. The waist is to tight though. (Shocker...I live in Memphis, the most unhealthy city in the world)

What are the standard specs of the highwayman?

You might want to think about the 2 inch leather strip at the bottom. Apart from costing another £50, it'll stiffen the hem a lot. I got a corduroy strip instead, which costs nothing and doesn't add to the stiffness.

Your specs above are similar to my 40" Highwayman, except I got it a bit longer and it's still only 25.5 inches collar to hem. As it's a boxy style, the waist is quite forgiving, which might work for you.

Hi what type of material is the red lining you have in mind? I have experience of tartan, alpaca and cotton drill. For me the cotton drill is easily the best because it breathes better than the others. I find the tartan a bit hot and the alpaca a bit itchy. It I was you I'd go for brown cotton drill lining

Length is a good point. I'm 5'10" and mine is standard length, which is ideal on me. If I had an extra four inches in height I might think of adding a couple of inches in length too - depending on where I had my height, of course. If it was all legs rather than in the torso and arms, I'd skip it.

I don't notice it in my 50' HBD. You could however as for a lightweight hide on the strip if you're concerned. Maybe others with this can chime in - I've only had that jacket for ~9 months.

My Thirties Halfbelt has it; my other jackets don't. Actually, my Bootlegger I don't have either type of strip as I didn't think of that back then, and my Highwayman was bought as an entirely standard pattern, so. Oh... I don't notice it on the Halfbelt at all, no difference as compared to the Bootlegger, both being FQHH. I would say, though, that both of those are fitted jackets. The Highwayman is a much looser fitting jacket, so you might be more aware of it. I doubt it, though - really, I don't see it making a significant decision as compared to the standard pattern in FQHH. That said, I'd be tempted by the corduroy option myself if it adds no upcharge (the price for the 1" leather strip is not to be sniffed at). Assuming Aero will charge the same if you want it retrofitted later on (might want to check that, though), then you might well find it's worth the gamble on the return postage charge of not needing it at all.
