LOL! I hear ya regarding those Canada goose parkas. For the same price as them, I got a decent shearling civilian type B3 jacket locally for about $600. It handles -35 (windchill-40) with ease with only a medium turtle neck sweater. I wear a short sleeve shirt to work with this jacket on in -10 to -15 weather with no issues. I've own North face and Eddie Bauer down parkas with 600 to 700 fill down. They are not as warm as my shearling jacket which has only a 1/2 inch fur throughout the inside. Only advantage to down it that it is much lighter and handles really wet conditions a little better. :) one more question, the duty fees, are they added to the price at checkout from their website (assuming you bought it directly from Eastman Leather UK)or do you have to pay duty/brokerage fees upon delivery to you in Canada?

It will be upon delivery. Their website does not say. They will claim 50% so I pay less though ;p

As an aside, Sean, how was your experience with ordering an A-2 from U.S. Authentic?

And I never thought I would hear a Canadian use "y'all" :)

Ya. I use idioms from all over. US A was breezy. Emails were very...short lol. UPS sucks for Canada though. Hard. $400 HH became $600. o_O

Thanks for your info, Sean. I just ordered their Roughwear (Redskin) B3 version in a 44. Emailed them as well to make sure the 44 is right for me based on my measurements. Told them in the email to change it to a 42 if my measurements are more fitting for that. Hopefully I would hear from them tomorrow (Monday). Hopefully it will come in 3-4 weeks as claimed on the order form and website (so around February as well). Too bad I don't have it this week. The forecast for this week is snow and cold temperatures reaching -28 without windchill (could go to -35to -40 with windchill). I still have my Cockpitusa Modern B3 (the one with a hood and handwarmers) to keep me toasty:)
I'm excited to receive the jacket and I couldn't wait 3 months for Aero to make me one. I'm hoping the ELC Redskin B3 is as good as everyone in this forum saids it is.

Outstanding. Let's compare notes after eh? 2 sizes difference should make a great thread I reckon.

Hey Sean,
I was wondering what ELC quoted you in terms of time frame for your jacket delivery. I remember you stated feb. Would that be early mid or late feb? Gary from Eastman quoted me an 8 week wait time before delivery which would put the delivery of my jacket around the end of feb to early march. I was over on VLJ and some of the very knowledgeable and experienced members stated that ELC has no sheepskin available until the end of jan. I hope ELC can still make their quoted time frames for our jackets. 8 weeks is still long but Aero quoted me 12week wait. Maybe aero and ELC are in the same boat regarding sheepskin. Luckily late feb and early march is still quite cold here in Calgary so hopefully I will be able to still enjoy my jacket when it comes.

Cheers RG

This was Jan. 6, 2011.

" We are just back from the Christmas break and I am only just catching up with e-mails.
I don't have a size 48 in stock as you know but the sheepskin arrived here today so we can start work on your order immediately and ship it to you within the next 2 weeks."

Wow :) that's awesome! That means you might receive your jacket by the end of January. I hope the 8 weeks he quoted me is on the long side. Hopefully it will come sooner than that. I did order the RW B3 version and it does take a little longer to make than the seal version though.

Cheers RG

That's great! Did ELC send you a confirmatory email to let you know that it shipped or did you email them for that info? Also please post pics of the jacket once you get it :) . Not sure when mine is coming :( I emailed ELC and Gary told me that they are still waiting for the materials (apparently, they ran out of sheepskin and their next supply shipment might be at the end of January). Hopefully I could get the jacket by mid February.

B3 is here! It looks good from my cursory glance and try on. Kinda stiff. Will break in at work tomorrow and will take some pics.

Congrats on receiving your jacket! Can't wait to see your pics and review. Do you mind me asking what you paid for duty/tax on delivery?
Hopefully my order will be delivered in the next 2 weeks (hoping for an early feb delivery).

Cheers
