Five times the price of a Bookster cap, I have trouble believing they could be five times superior, though I stand to be corrected.

Perhaps the hats have been made from the hair of the finest Armenian goats fed exclusively with honeyed milk and grass from precipices of the Himalayas. :D

Actually, I could see some unscrupulous people try and hock cashmere hats at that sort of price. I know my mother paid 3 grand for a cashere coat. I tried googling optimo newsboys. Anyone know if they're made of cashmere?

No matter, I will stick with my Hanna flat cap until I become CEO of a huge MNC and make kazillions. Then I'll go and buy that Brent Black $100,000 panama! lol

Optimo doesn't sell any factory hats. The "cheapest" hats are the milans, which were at $400 a year ago.

I'm guessing that the cost of refurb is cheaper because they've got a staff to handle it. Plus, a decent deal on work gets you in the store, or at least looking at the website - and possibly buying another hat. Also, don't forget that Optimo is using the fepsa felt (maybe superior, maybe just more expensive due to exchange rates; that's a different discussion) and has the overhead cost of a business in (around) Chicago.

Having said that, I have no idea what makes a newsboy so expensive.
