I'm fine with this being moved or deleted. I am also sort of new and searched for a leather jacket forum to post and didn't find one. But this is pretty much a leather jacket forum. With a few drips of boots and such. Fwiw some of the boots do fit me
It's not completely a leather jacket forum even though the fav is leather jackets besides

My entire life was based on working out and how big I could get.. you know, like Arnold. However I didn’t like being 5’8 and 200 pounds with a 44 chest size. Unless I had a jacket specifically made for me, the arms were almost always too long. Fast forward 30 yrs, I’ve learned to eat differently and I now wear a small or size 38. Almost any 38 will fit, and I love it! Did you see that golden bear jacket on here for $150? Size 42 I think and it’s horsehide.. just beautiful! I can’t believe it is still available? It’s an easy $500 quality jacket.

Can I bring an Interesting point to this..... Google Average male weight in 1940s .... it will come back with 155ish. Then Google the average male weight in 2025 and you will get something around 200 lbs. Most vintage jackets were made with smaller male sizes in mind. So what happens is that most repo makers takes these old 1940s jackets apart and make them proportionally larger (which is not going to work because they will not have as wide shoulders and big chests, as well as torsos). The Vintage CUTs fit better if you are slim and not as wide as most are these days. Isn't that cool thu? I find it fascinating.

Basically it’s about understanding brand sizing. While most clothing made for the American market tends to run larger. This has been a slow evolution starting in the 1980’s as more manufacturers moved overseas, mass producing clothing, tending to open up the patterns to accommodate more people. Conversely, European and Japanese manufacturers tended to make clothes that stuck to more traditional patterns and sizing.

Of course there are many more variables that play into it and there are exceptions. For instance, Real McCoy’s in recent years (2022) has opened up their patterns a bit to be more accommodating.

If you’re looking for a “larger” fit, typically brands like Vanson, Schott and Langlitz would be a few suggestions. Schott for instance makes both a “standard” fit and a “slim” fit in some of their perfecto jackets.

I’m certainly no expert- just what I’ve observed over the past few decades of leather jacket hunting.
Ok, I hope this helps.
