Today Id like to show you all something a little different. My one and only pair of "jeans" (that I still wear).
These Jeans are made by a Chinese manufacturer called "Red Tornado" & are perhaps more accurately described as denim trousers.
I bought them because I was searching for very high waist, wide/straight legged slacks made of denim fabric. You can probably imagine that there aren’t too many options. So when I saw these I ordered them.
They are made from 12oz denim, feature double pleats, cuffs, a back cinch, belt loops + inside suspender buttons and a semi fishtail back. Buttons are copper, zipper is a YKK. They also notably lack a yoke and have seamed back pockets, which adds to their already unique look. No other Jeans will look like this.
They are large and in charge, I mean look at them! I measured the rise at 16,5", or around 42cm. They rest about 2" above my naval. Leg opening is 10,6", or almost 27cm.
The construction of these trousers is far more like that of slacks then jeans. The cuffs are not sewn-in. They folded about 2" of the denim over and sew it in place, so that when cuffed, if gives the appearance of proper cuffs as found on slacks. Its a nice detail I haven’t seen elsewhere before. All the stitching is colour matched to blend in for a more formal appearance.
The construction overall seems quite solid, but I am no expert on denim so judge for yourselves.
Suffice to say they are quite the statement and I simply had to have them. Price was about $100, so quite inexpensive compared to Japanese makers. Some more pictures below.
