Nice suit, beautiful colors... however, dare I say, shortening a 30s suit makes it appear as a post war bold suit in many regards. The length of the coat is too long; some of the balance of it is tossed off to my eye.

Killer fabric though, just don't ever see that color or pattern.

It's not a 30's suit. It's 1943. Yes, a taller gentleman than I wore this suit but, there was no way I was going to pass on this. I made it fit as best I could. Do I wish the jacket were a bit shorter? Well sure. And maybe if I'd eaten more broccoli like mom said, I may have reached the lofty height of 5'8" rather than 5'6".;)

Oh is it early 40s? Huh, interesting... say, how much did you take up in the sleeves?

Enjoy it, it's a wonderful color!

Yeah, it's actually dated inside the jacket pocket. I was surprised when I saw it because I had it pegged for '38 when I first laid eyes on it. I really don't remember about the sleeves. Bought it about 11 years ago.

I could have sworn it was Ralph Lauren 1985.

Ooh, I don't know 'bout that. I started working at Bloomingdales in April '86 which is actually where I figured out that I really liked 30's and 40's style. There was a cat that worked in men's shoes, Calvin, that always wore cool suits and shoes. While I didn't know much, I knew his duds weren't the kind of stuff a department store in the 80's had.
I digress. Anyways, don't remember much good Ralph Lauren at that time. I do remember though around '94-'95 at the Ralph Lauren store at The Biltmore in Phoenix, a beautiful navy chalk stripe single with peak lapels. Seems like it was some purple label special deal thing or something. It was pretty unusual as a single peak was virtually nonexistent around that time. Wanted that suit bad but, it was well over $1000.
