Not overly surprised it's happening so not complaining!

Only started off looking at a Hudson from Aero....ended up binning that idea and ended up getting a Sheene and a Windward that should be collected next month.

That then grew to having a pair of Border Patrol Shearling boots put to one side to try when I collect my jackets. If they fit they'll also be coming home with me.

Now looking at trying out a motorcycle jacket out for size, see if it suits me. If it does that also might be heading my way next Spring.

I agree with you there however, with being 68 in 2 months pacing may not be to good an idea .

The idea with the Sheene and the Windward joining an A2 and a flying jacket I already have was to try and cover all options.

If I decide I like a biker jacket on me I'll hold off until next Spring to see how I go on this Autumn / Winter with the others. I may decide I don't need one.

I have analyzed my own consumer behaviour and I buy more when something in my life is „off“ which I then try to compensate by gifting myself stuff such as luxury watches or leather jackets to temporarily feel better. I recall @Superfluous and others describing similar findings. So if you find yourself buying and buying, you may hold on for a moment and consider whether you really want that particular object of desire or if it‘s just about the next dopamine kick because if it is the later, it‘s never going to stop until you fix the underlying issue and you may end up with a bunch of stuff a few years down the road that you will have dust away or sell at colossal loss.

I can assure you there is no underlying issue.

It's more a case of over the years trying to find clothes that I like that wasn't easy especially in the pre-internet days. Over the last 12 months and a great deal of searching I found I can nail down where I can get what I want quite easily.

For many years I worked my nuts off in an environment away from home (where I rarely got to see) and my wardrobe consisted off suits, shirts and ties. No casual gear needed apart from trackie bottoms and t-shirts as virtually no down time....yup, crappy lifestyle but silly money.

Now happily retired and also happy to spend monies on clothes that I want rather than a 'work uniform'.

To me that's enjoyment and return for all of the years away so, as said, definitely NOT an issue.

That's a great privilege!! And indeed, you have good taste here and would spend the money on items that have great intrinsic value, as well as simply are excellent products.

Yes this is a slippery slope, and many have sailed much further down it that I have. There are plenty of great brands/artisan quality and leathers/textiles to be considered. I have a deep interest in an Eastman, or perhaps even a Thedi at some point in the future. Enjoy the journey!

Yeah, and Aero is only the entry point. Maybe save some for a Thedi, or a LW motorcycle jacket...there are many interesting makers around, and they are definitely worth a try!

My philosophy, if you're not hurting anyone, including yourself, then go for it. Life is short and can be shortened at any moment. Enjoy.

From a practical sense though, it does get gluttonous. I have over 20 jackets living in Los Angeles. They get wears but I really have to force it. I'm fine tuning the collection and hope to land at about 12 which I can jokingly justify as a one for each month kind of thing. But I did find myself being allured by the chase more than the actual ability to wear said jacket. And that's when it kind of felt silly so I shifted gears to lets enjoy what I got. That's my mantra for this year. Lets get some wears on these bad boys.

Not really, but I feel it’s important to pace yourself.

I think this is great advice. In my experience buying more than one jacket at a time always leads to a letdown. I find that the least favorite of the two is immediately pushed aside and all of my attention goes to the one that I like the most. It’s almost like I would’ve been better off not buying one of them at all, whereas if I had waited and bought them separately I would’ve admired them each individually for their own qualities and attributes.

I agree, pace yourself, don't fall into a frenzy, switch your mind into enjoying the jacket instead of buying another one again, try to switch your mind into enjoying to see how the creases develops, how the edges start showing underlying color of the hide, waiting for rainy days to get a proper wet jacket breaking in, find out outfit combination that works with that one jacket, so many interesting moments to enjoy on one leather jacket, when you have 3 brand new jackets coming it will simply just overwhelm your sense and numb it. unless collecting is your passion, then it is a different kind of game and feeling. I'm not a collector so I can't really see from their point of view, maybe they like to compare them to file them into racks according to their era and style, etc.

Many thanks for the varied responses however, just a couple of points worth reiterating.

With regards to getting two jackets at once and preferring one over the other, one is a Sheene which will be more of a fair weather jacket, the other a Windward which will be ideal for wearing when it's a bit too cool for the Sheene. On that basis there won't be any favouring one over the other as one will be worn when the weather isn't suitable for the other. I could agree with the comment if I was getting 2 x Sheene or 2 x Windward.....but I'm not. I also appreciate this can happen, it did to me with suits! Circumstance dictated that cheap ass suits just wouldn't cut it so ended up with, let's say quite a few, hand made suits and inevitably I ended up with my favourites!

Secondly, I won't have 3 brand new jackets coming at once. As stated, once the 2 are ready for collection, which will be hopefully the middle of next month, I will try a biker jacket on. If I feel it suits me I'll get measured up for one. Then by Spring should I feel I fancy another then a biker jacket will be ordered in the Spring.

My intention is to wear the 4 jackets I'll end up owning ( 1 x A2, 1 x Sheene, 1 x Windward, 1 x flying jacket ) as opposed to just looking at them. The chances are I'll decide against a 5th as being fitted for one doesn't necessarily mean I'll go ahead with the purchase of it. The fitting would take place whilst up at Aero as have no intention of ordering on-line due the risk of a poor fit. To me it makes sense to make use of my time up at Aero. Yes, I could make an assumption from the 2 I'm getting re sizing, the issue is one is a 44 and the other is a 46 so the risk of doing that is too great.

The 2 I'm getting have been personalized to my taste, if I was to get a biker one and have taken a chance with on-line ordering it would also have a couple of personalizations....meaning I couldn't return it which would mean trying to move it on and making a loss.

Well, collection has gone back to approximately mid October.

This is absolutely no fault of Aero, more down to availability of leather. Although it was ordered in July, the tannery for the Badalassi was closed for the whole of August as is usual for European holidays. Horween aren't yet running at full pace so the FQHH should also arrive with Aero early Oct, the same time as the Badalassi.

One thing I will say is the customer service and comms with Chloe at Aero has been outstanding.

But for some other it matters more.... and kept previous one as comparison. Same thinking process we find here or denim forum, or fountain pen or elsewhere, some people would buy and use and some other member would buy and accumulate their collection, both types would enrich the forum and thankfully not all people are alike. I used to have comics collection and toys from my childhood that i kept for sentimental value sake, when i did renovation on my house 6 yrs ago, i threw away all that and purge my living space and style and to stay very conscious of material things i bring home to not stuff the house. So i now solely collect things digitally.
