Away from the generically obvious - attractive scantily clad women sell things / get attention - was there any explanation that went along with this picture? The underwear is a cliche - whatever - but the heels are so silly as they'd kill themselves doing that job in those shoes.

Your first statement and description is the answer.

Visiting the site is no longer available, except for the
photo on “Pinterest”.
There's no explanation, perhaps it’s similar to what happened
with photo-bucket when it shut down it’s images.

Also there are many photos that are gone from the beginning of this thread.

The dark-haired lady doesn't look too happy about the whole thing. Maybe she lost out to the blonde.

Didn't California used to be part of Mexico, not to mention a few other states?
California, Arizona, New Mexico, part of Colorado too. Don't know about what is now Nevada or Utah.

The dark-haired cutie is sad because she’s not from Texas...is all! :D

Love it. It's missing Cawl-o-raddo and Whine-o-ming, though, and what of Ark-kin-zaw and What-Did-Della-Wear?

It's like that old New Yorker cover of a Manhattanite's view of the world: Manhattan is vastly larger than anything else, and places like China and Canada are tiny and far far away.

⇧ Even when they survive, they usually don't retain that much of their original design and architecture. Any idea what year the "live" shot of the station is from (the car and coke machine look to be, at least, from the '90s).

Shame the mullioned-glass garage door was lost at some point.

That Gulf, "Dunkle's Gulf", is still intact and operating after eighty-four years -- it was one of several built by Gulf in that design, using colored ceramic tile, but is the only one still operating as a Gulf station. The station even outlived the Gulf Refining CompanyGulf Oil Corporation itself -- the current Gulf Oil LP, is not connected to the original firm, which was engulfed into Chevron and dissolved in the 1980s.

Just got back from the search engine.

"Opened in 1933 by Dick Dunkle it is one of the few remaining art deco
gas stations in the country and does full service repairs too."
