Same store, same day, different angle. Note the remains of the Craddock-Terry Fine Shoes sign above the upper-story window. One stop shopping. Note also the short wing at the left of the building has since been demolished.

Back in 2014, I posted the Gordonton gas station photo by Dorothea Lange.
There are several variations and also one was colorized and submitted to the
Shorpy Photo Archives.

Soon after in 2014, V.C. Brunswick posted a follow-up and the way it looked in later years.
Not sure of the date. But it's interesting that it is still standing.

Good example of a paint-lease station -- the painted brickwork walls and the bolted on speed lines make for a reasonable conversion of this station to the Teague Texaco format. The "Ethyl" plate on the pump would be non-regulation after the rebranding of Texaco Ethyl to Sky Chief in 1938, but regulations were made to be ignored, especially in paint-lease situations. The poster in the window advertising "STRETCH the life of your car" suggests the photo was taken during the war era, when such themes were heavily emphasized.
