I'm still looking for that perfect straw, but today I encountered a couple terms I'm not familiar with: shantung and toyo straw (shh, don't rat me out to my boss that I was looking for straw hats on a government computer on my lunch!). Naturally I would have come here and done a search, but since I was at work and can't access the FL, I went to the next best reference source on the web, Wikipedia. Nothing. So my question is, where are you guys?! You now who you are: hat guys, in this case, but suit guys, shoe guys, the guys we all turn to when we have questions. C'mon now, fellas, we need you out there! Wikipedia is becoming the go-to resource, and there is precious little info on hats, suits, or heck, just about any of the predominant interests of this board. The page on jacket lapels doesn't even have an illustration of the different types. And this is the entry for Fedora?! Pitiful. Let's get snappin', fellas! Hup, hup, hup! Let's go!

It is true, the brain-trust here at FL should help flesh out some the articles on Wikipedia. The FL could be one of the cited resources, thereby helping to drive traffic back here as well. I always thought that an illustrated timeline of fedora brim sizes would be helpful.

I'm still sporting the training wheels...

Still learning myself; I know I'm not qualified enough to post to Wikipedia. On the other hand, Wiki is sometimes good even without the vast body of knowledge of the others in FL contributing. Check out "Chaperon" (the hat) for example....

I agree - FL'ers could add a lot!

BTW - Toyo straw I don't know, but Shantung is basically paper, woven like straw  .

Regards....
