It is definately worth a try. I spent $100 on skincare, and all I got was red irritated skin.

I spent under half that on 4 bottles of oil, and have clear, balanced, hassle free skin!

I absolutly see your point! I went from spending almost 200$ on skincare to 30$ on skincare thanks to all of your lovely tips!

I do have oily skin (T-Zone area) and I did read that with some ladies it took the oily's away?

Hmm.. I wonder if I should buy some Jajoba Oil and use it at night after my invigorating cleanse of Cold Cream... hmmmm... thoughts building in my head

Yep! I too have the oily t zone, but dry cheeks etc. My make up has stayed on brilliantly since starting this method, and I dont have the greasies by midday as much as I did!

Plus my Jojoba bottle claims its "the wrinkle fighter". I'll take a whole vat then thanks!

So I went to the store on the Hunt for Jajoba Oil.. and I cant believe how hard it is to find!

So for now I bought Vitiman E to use .. my grandmother swears by it.. and she dosent have a wrinkle on her face.. I am PRAYING to look like that when I am older!

So.. still on the hunt...

Ohh I did come across a bottle that had pure almond oil, castor oil and olive oil...
Do you think that would be good to use...?[huh]

This is Grandma and Grandpa :) She is 78..

I only like to use Castor oil in the beginning, or to get out stubborn blackheads, etc. It can be drying, and would recommend using sweet almond, jojoba, or the other oils long term over Castor.

I've always heard that Vitamin E oil is acnegenic (i.e. *causes* acne). I don't know how true that is; I do know it's recommended for scars, stretch marks, etc. And your grandmother's skin looks really nice, so maybe it works!

For the jojoba oil, try stores that sell health or organic foods.

I have recently gone back to the castor oil formulation and have noticed a definite difference. I think I'll keep a smaller separate bottle mixed up for the times I need it, and just use EVOO, JoJoba and Almond oil

Ladies, I have been doing the OCM for a week now, and I must say:

THANK YOU ALL!

I cannot believe the difference it is making. I am going through the "purge-all" breakout at the moment, but otherwise, my skin looks better (and feels so much better!) than it has in years. I actually went out without foundation the other day and didn't feel paranoid like I always do. It even seems to be making a bit of a difference in the areas where my Rosacea is rampant, which nothing (including prescriptions) has helped. My pores seem much smaller too, probably due to being emptied out.

Funny thing, though, I read all the talk about plugs/blackheads, and the first night I used a black washcloth. I thought I had lint all over my fingers, and then realized it wasn't lint.....it was frighteningly gratifying!

You have to go to a natural foods store like Whole Foods to find it.

.

I wouldn't use a pre-mixed oil. You need to be able to mix an oil formulation that's right for your skin and your needs.

Ooo I'd love to try the rose hip oil ShrinkingViolet! It sounds divine. Where did you buy yours?

I'm a big fan too, you can buy it in those health food stores, like for example Helsemin in Copenhagen. Somewhat expensive though, a very small bottle costs 80 DKK, I'm sure it's less expensive online.

Ladies, I have a question. I will be starting on oil cleansing since my little flirt with cold cream didn't work out well.

I was wondering if any of you use disposable washing cloths like these? It just seems much easier than having to throw a fabric cloth in the washer every day and also washing them separately (I don't have my own washing machine, which makes it a bit more difficult to wash). The only thing is that those disposable cloths don't get keep the heat of the water that well, so you don't really steam your face.

Anyway, any tips for handling your washing cloths? What kind of fabric do you use? Muslin? Do you only use them once between each wash? What's the cheapest solution, buying a lot of muslin and cutting the cloths yourself?

I absolutely don't wash mine after every use. I rinse it out in very, very hot water and use it for about a week before I wash it.

I'll definitely look throught this tread. The coldcream is working ok but I think it gives me white spots and maybe this is better. I read in my 50's beauty-bible "Eternal beauty" that if you have dry skin you should avoid mineral oils or vaseline cause only alcohol can remove it, and you shouldn't use any harsh alcohol on your skin if it's dry.

But I don't understand why natural oils shouldn't clog up the poors? Do you ?

I don't know how or why the olive oil works for my skin, but it does. After a brief dalliance with cold cream (I was seduced! I swear!) I went back to oil and within a few days my skin was looking good again. I admit, I am shallow enough to miss cute product packaging and shopping for skin care goodies, but my skin has never, ever looked so good. I'm a fan!

Actually, I got fed up with the rose hip oil from Helsemin because it has rose oil added and the smell got so sickly sweet, so I got an unscented one online instead. I usually like rose scents but this one was just ... blergh!

My skin seems to be a little allergic to something in the Boots cold cream so I'm on the oil cleansing wagon, too. I have a big battery of oils and essential oils in the cupboard anyway, because I've experimented with making my own lipbalm and body oils. I'll definitely look through the different recommendations in this thread.

By the way, I read an interview with a dermatologist a while ago. You know how skin doctors always say that the whole cosmetics industry is bogus and you hardly need to moisturise because the skin is self-cleaning and all that stuff? Well, this doctor actually recommended using natural vegetable oils! So apparently it's beneficial from a medical point of view, too.

Has anyone tried Flax Seed Oil in the OCM mix?
I'm looking for something to replace the castor oil with as my face didn't take to kindly to it.
I'm still a bit confused as to what oils you can use as the actual "cleansing" oils as opposed to the moisturizing oils.

OK... my question is... I have VERY oily skin in my T-zone area, and rather weird skin on the bridge of my nose (maybe from wearing glasses?) and between my eyes. The "weird skin" I just mentioned is strange because it's oily AND flaky all at the same time, as if its being simultaneously wet and dry. But all the rest is just oil. My face is a MESS this way. I don't have a big problem with breakouts, but my pores look HUGE, and my makeup slips off rather easily from all the oil. (so gross :( )

I use Cetaphil bars with an exfoliating sponge to clean with, which does work better for me than anything else I've tried so far. But the results are still not ideal.

Because my skin is so oily, would oil cleansing not work for me? I mean its really REALLY oily. I'm always carrying blotting tissue. Oy. :eusa_doh:

Thanks for your help!

You should read through all of the information here. Oil cleansing method would probably work well for you BECAUSE your skin is oily. You might just have to add more castor oil for cleansing.

Thank you so much. :) You are right... I should have read through all of the pages before asking. Going to go do that right now, and start trying oil cleansing asap! Thanks again!
