What about Ohio?

I'm new to the lounge, so I'm wondering if there are many people from Ohio. And if so, ever do any get togethers? I am the only one I know that thinks the world went to pot after 1963 (and I'm only 31) Personals alert! I would to talk to and/or meet some feloow golden-agers in the state.

Add me to the list... Lucasville

Not sure what the area I'm living in is referred to, though most people seem to have heard of the prison here!

I think of this as southern Ohio, but then again, I'm relatively new here myself.

Cheers,
Tom

Sounds like you live near Lucasville if I was to make an educated guess.;)
I'm from columbus but although I love vintage clothing I have none myself so even if we had a get together I'd have nothing to wear.:(

Yup, you guessed right! :D But what I really meant is that I'm not sure where people put their imaginary boundries when referring to southern Ohio, southwestern Ohio, southeastern Ohio, central Ohio, etc.

At the moment all I have in vintage that I can wear is hats! I recently bought a vintage suit and a couple of sport coats that I hope to be able to shrink into down the road. I've checked out a few thrift stores in Columbus but haven't found any that had anything that looked authentically vintage--but plenty of stuff that sure looked old! :p

Cheers,
Tom

I can think of at least four other Ohioans who should be speaking up.

I'm in SW Ohio.

I have a Bailey fedora, and am still planning on a custom order at Batsakes. Perhaps a similar lid to Bogey's in the Maltese Falcon...

I am mostly interested in vintage style outerwear. I have an Avirex A2 (from 1997), a 1985 London Fog trench coat (bought new) and a black Aero jerky horsehide Barnstormer.

GOOOOLLy! There are fellow Ohioans here. I am in NW-ish Ohio. About halfway betwwen Dayton and Toledo. That would be St. Marys. I, too, am in the category of not having vintage, but I do have a few vintage-inspired things. I can get away with it if hard pressed.
My next question: Anybody going to the Tony Bennett show in Columbus?

Canton has its rough spots. And those spots are increasingly invading my quiet little town. But there's good shopping. :)

Oh, and... bump.

I'm here in Columbus, Ohio. I'm more of a retro film buff than clothing buff but only because they don't tend to have decent retro clothing in my size. Now maybe if the Sydney Greenstreet estate has a sale...

Don't know if I should be posting here

Well.....I'm from Youngstown, Ohio, but I'm not living there now. Concerning vintage diversions and delights in the state, I would say that Cleveland has a good balboa/swing dance scene. I don't know about vintage or repro clothing stores, though. They're difficult to find in Northeast Ohio.

Oh, and wearing vintage in my hometown will surely get you stares. People really don't know how to take you if you dress up. And that's if you're wearing modern dressy clothes, let alone vintage. lol
