First time I tasted 'Original Sin,' sorry, you don't taste original sin, you experience it. Knocks your head off. Great if you have been trying to get rid of that embarrassing bout of strong breath. Takes your breath clean away.

In london, I told a good cocktail barman about it. He explained that Original Sin is actually a cocktail, and proceeded to make one. When I told him about the first time that I tried it, he laughed and asked if it came premixed, straight out of a bottle. I told him that it did. He said that the best thing you could do with that, was to strip paint with it.

A terrible sounding recipe is the "Rotsiegel-Cocktail" from 1957.
Rotsiegel is a famous German tie-maker and their ties are exquisite... their recipe for a drink probably not so much.

Mix together and poor in a whiskey glass on ice:

1 large liquor glass orange juice
1 tablespoon yoghurt
1 teaspoon ketchup
1 teaspoon gin
1/2 teaspoon sugar
some chopped ginger

"Delicious and wholesome " they write...

My bane is gin. :spit: Disgusting stuff! Lifted some from dad's liquor cabinet when I was about 15 or so. Was like drinking turpentine. Even the slightest whiff of the stuff makes me turn green now.

Mostly cheap Gin is like "rot gut". Bombay Blue Sapphire is not too bad. But Gin is an acquired taste, the same as many hard liquors are. I do not like Gin, nor Vodka, and actually never have liked much of any booze products. I do have a beer about three times a week, and that is it.

Daniel likes JD. Not his favorite but as he says, it is better than the majority of similar booze sitting on the grocery store shelf....lol!

Lagavulin is a brand that is perhaps one that Daniel says it is a great tasting scotch, but hard to find anywhere and about $125.00 a fifth.

Leave out the ketchup ad yogurt and you should be fine. Too much sweet and not enough strong in that recipe.

Wow! Lagavulin is expensive out where you are. I can get it for around $60 here. Another reason I guess I am staying.

Yes, there just are not much going on for the above average pallet for quality "booze" in our neck of the woods at least. I recall a few years ago, we found a bottle of Lagavulin at one of the larger party stores that claim to have the best selection around. It was a left over from a special order that someone just did not desire to pay for. It was used for a New Years Eve party...and from all the feedback we had from friends that helped consume it, everyone stated it was the best they had ever had.

About the best "bubbly" one could find here would be Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante..not world class great but a notch up from sparkling grape juice, or Boones Farm with an alkaseltzer added for some fizz!

On the flip side...one can buy a home that is 6,000 square foot on three acres of land, new custom home attached 4 car garage and only built in 2004 for less than $400,000.00 that if the same home was in Pomona California, would have sold for at least 2 million.....bread is cheaper here as is meat and other products...I think Gas is also cheaper here.....the entertainment may not be the same as most areas of California...seldom do we have the occasion to break out the pop corn for a front seat of the local cops beating some old lady to death for jay walking.....no "hari Khrisna's" hanging out at the local airports and no fix it tickets for the smog certifications being expired! LOL! I am certain some places here in Michigan do have street walkers doing their thing, but I would tend to think as ugly as some of them there Gals may be, very few of them were born a "George" and now call themselves, "Georgette".....lol! So yes, I know California is like the old Green Acres theme song....with a few twists and (God help me for saying this) and some twerking, added in the chorus....lol!

The Gin is going to get you "ripped", "snorted", and so rapidly "Houston..we have ignition..."...you'll need the cup.....in the morning....badly.....to help "jog" your brain in hopes if you can recall the name of that train that just hit you....so they have excellent customer service by giving you the cup with the name on it...

Nah, none of that. It is actually decent tasting without all that nasty juniper berry taste. I suppose how much you can drink depends on how much you drink.

Back in the early 80's there was a company here made vodka and gin. Somewhere down along the coast I always speculated in an old refinery. Now this was waaaay before the craft liquor and distillery craze that has taken over here. They sold their product in a plastic handle (1,75 liter). That's the only way I remember the stuff's availability. It was called "Texas Spirit" and it was CHEAP. Or else in those days I wouldn't be able to afford it.
