Odd-Job's hat: What style is it?

Curious hat, here. I'm wondering whether it's a custom, or ...? Too tall for a homburg, it seems, and too short for a tophat.

Can anyone clarify?

I believe it is a top hat but not one with an extral tall crown. The size of his head would make even a tall top hat not look tall.

Of course the semi-stingy hardened metal cutting edge brim aids in making it look short.

I think that is some variety of bowler hat with a high crown. More precisely, I think that it might be a Cambridge Bowler of the type famously worn by Winston Churchill.

I believe it is a bowler. I do remember seeing a TV programme on the BBC a few years ago where there was a gentleman having one fitted at Lock & Co who was fighting to have it registered as a bicycle helmet (due to it being so durable to impact and that he'd been riding a bike with it for years). I remember them saying in the programme that it was an early form of the "modern" bowler.
