NYC Police Jacket's from back in the day (70's/80's)

Been eyeballin leather "retired" Police jackets from back in the 70's and 80's and I'm finding them intriguing. Seems from my limited research they were produced to a spec by a variety of manufacturers? Anyway, would love to hear from anyone who would like to weigh in on the subject. Regards!

Until sometime in the mid 80's uniformed cops assigned to duty in a Radio Motor Patrol unit ( RMP ) or ((Police car)) had the option of wearing a short leather jacket. the other option was a 3/4 length wool "reefer" coat. The jacket was horsehide and definitely made by several companies but they all looked like the following:

The Officers assigned to either the Highway Patrol or the Mounted Units wore and still wear a 3/4 length leather jacket with Sam Browne belt worn on the outside

I'm not 100% sure but i believe Lost Worlds still make these..

This model, in the first two pics is my favorite leather jacket style in the world! I actually had two, Aero and Vanson and while neither fit me very well, to this day I cannot understand what possessed me to sell the Vanson. I miss it immensely.

This one is currently for sale made by Vanson... I dont think this is legit as they all had the 3 piece back (the back seams create the letter 'T' )but it looks really close.. good price too.
