Pardon me for interpreting the English langauge literally.

Or perhaps you were posting ironically?

As a social scientist, I merely believe that conclusions ought to be rational and fact based, rather than casual assumptions made by superficial observation.

There's a lot that someone who flippantly calls any young person a "Hipster" doesn't know about hipsters. Not the least of which is apparently how to determine who is, or is not one.

Like I said, I simply think it is more logical to reach conclusions based on more than "gut feelings" about random people. Especially when it is the case where your own contradictions make it clear that there is a gap between assumed knowledge and reality.

I agree with Perry on this. Who cares what the motivation for wearing the hat is as long as it's being worn out and about? It's still interesting to see them out on the street. The same goes for the clothing these guys wear. It's definitely different but still interesting. The fashion crowd are part of what makes people watching in NYC fun even if most of us wouldn't wear many of those styles of clothing.
Hey, I say wearing hats for any reason is good enough.

I hate to be speaking from the amen corner but I just had to say "true dat"

When I was in Manhattan last spring there were oodles of stingy brims and you would hope those folks would graduate to a proper hat at some point.
