Larry "The Cable Guy" has a episode where he goes on a nutria hunting adventure. The hunters were paid a bounty for each one killed. As I recall they can reproduce in their first year and have multiple litters in a season. Nutria didn't appear to be capable of diving and swimming under water like a beaver or muskrat does when frightened. They were shooting some at very close ranges giving the appearance they are not very elusive. The show ends w/ Larry and the gang eating some for lunch.
