Thankfully I'm not a Levi's kinda guy, because I prefer hand warmer pockets that aren't practically behind me.
I like Wranglers and Big Smith , but j haven't tried Lee yet.
If one really gets into denim jackets It may not matter which brand / patterns you go for, because they all seem to have nuances and there are endless takes on all of them.

The problem, we have in Germany, is the permanent presence of well-made storebrand type 3 jackets for usually 40 bucks, A-quality level.
Tell me, how long could you resist??

That depends where they're made.

Really , for $40 I would be looking for whatever reason I could to not buy because that's definitely a tempting price.

Of course they're usually Turkey-made, China-made. But I wouldn't wonder, if some of the unmarked could be Italian-made. The Bangladesh-made are usually lower quality levels.

Italy is still one of the big players in textile, a fact, which is not well know, today.

Yeah the Bangladesh stuff is not that great.
I've got a flannel lined wrangler I bought new about 10 years ago.
It was a size too big and there are other things I dislike about it these days, so it's now just a dedicated chore coat for yard work and working / cleaning up my shop.
Plenty of stains and grime...etc all over it.
It's held up but the denim is not very good.

Had a Type 3, St Bernard (Dunnes Stores, an Irish equivalentvof Marks and Spencer), back in 89. Finally wore it out in 97ish, by which point it had been worn hard most Summers, and had acquired a few patches - Ramones, Space Shuttle Challenger, something politically slanted. Didn't bother with another denim jacket until 2004ish. A Levis froma range sold as "Type 1", but not a type 1 as we'd understand it here. Nice enough jacket, but too modern (long in the body) for me. That eas it eith me and denim jackets til 2024, when I bought one of the Cathcart denim Battledress jackets. Wore that quite a bit this last Summer. Also fancied the zup up halfbelt one they did, but held off in the hope they do it in a black as I just don't have a use for two blue denim jackets.

Realisedover the years what I fon't like on a type 3 is the handwarmer pockets that became a norm c1960, much prefer the look without them.

I like Levis but I have older heritage models now with suspenders buttons, levis 201, model 1902, have a pair of big E though, and I like Wranglers

Yeah, Wrangler is a real classic in old Germany, too!
Luckily, they launched type 3-similar jackets as counterpart of their classic Authentic Western jacket with the unchanged boxy cut, which many people don´t like that much.

Haha!!
This time I was weak, BUT surprisingly the interesting type 3 jacket was more or less B-classy quality, so I left it in the store.
So this time no type 3 "No.9" !!
