For more than 30 years, I have honored milestones in my life with a new hat which forever connotes that event for me - my marriage, birth of my sons, big promotions, that sort of thing.

I recently got a new job, and to mark this occasion, I went with something a little different. Here is my russet Dobbs Milan, which is likely NOS, showing no signs of ever having been worn:

Brim is 2 3/16" wide, crown is 4 5/8" tall at the side. It is the only one I've seen with a bow and bound brim, which accents the ribbon. I have a number of other Milans, but most have pugarees instead of bows and none are bound. Here's the brim edge, top view:

It's got a ventilated sweat:

...which helps make it way cooooooool:

Very nice!

Sweet hat. I'm working on adding straws to my collection to get ready for spring. Most I see on eBay tend to be stingy brims, though.

Congrats on the new job!

Cheers,
Tom

I see you found one of these babies eh?:

Not bad at all. Now if I could find myself one of the gray or blue ones....;)

JP - that's a kick-butt ad...

Damn, I'd like to have one in each color. What does the copy say where it's pointing to the sweat? Does it give this style a name? Do you know what year that ad published?

The ad is hard to read as I only have the picture. It mentions Throughbreds and also mentions the ventilated sweatband where the arrow points. The ad was supposedly from 1955. Sounds about right for your hat as well.

Regards,

J
