I was sent up to Anchorage this past week for work. I was able to meet and have lunch with carebear. It was delightful! We took a couple of photos to commemorate the first FL meeting in Alaska.

Us with the huge polar bear on display in the hotel lobby where we had lunch. We kinda used it for scale. He's tall. I'm not.

And us outside in the cold weather. There was a definite nip in the air!

I can't wait to go back.

I think there's at least a foot difference in our heights. (I'm only 5'1".)

Great pics. I spent 6 years in Anchorage, stationed at Elmendorf AFB, and I miss that place to no end. I love it there and wish to go back soon. I have a lot of ties at a Mason lodge there that I did not want to leave behind.

Eerie, technically I'm old enough to BE your father. How'd he end up in Polska?

The rest of the decorations in the hotel lobby were keeping with the theme of the polar bear.

A bear!

A bison, and a wolf pelt.

A lamp made out of a horn. (carebear, what kind was that again?)

And what lodge would be complete without..... a MOOSE!!!

And I ran into a random totem pole in someone's front yard. It was really neat!

Bison were native, but died out. They were reintroduced and now thrive.
