Hey Yeps. I am from near Baltimore myself, though I don't live there anymore., my adopted grandmother who was in the service during WW2 never wore a had and neither did her husband. They both said they annoyed them and so they went without if they could get away with it.
My great-grandfather supposedly wore hats constantly, as did his four brothers. However there are no family photos showing any of them actually wearing them. [huh] I take that back ... later photos show him wearing the occasional ballcap or straw fedora, but nothing too stylish like in his younger days.
