Mark, top picture is Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley of Peru, the bottom one is Machu Picchu. Yes, almost all women in Peru wear a fedora or a bowler. Some wear very tall straw hats. Most of the men don't wear fedoras, except for the older men. I'm not sure where this tradition in South America comes from, but it is very interesting that the indigenous people there wear what we consider a very European piece of clothing, along with their traditional clothes...
