Mark, top picture is Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley of Peru, the bottom one is Machu Picchu. Yes, almost all women in Peru wear a fedora or a bowler. Some wear very tall straw hats. Most of the men don't wear fedoras, except for the older men. I'm not sure where this tradition in South America comes from, but it is very interesting that the indigenous people there wear what we consider a very European piece of clothing, along with their traditional clothes...

Suspenders go a long way

When it gets intolerably hot for a jacket, I go out like many of you wearing docker type trousers and a button shirt with no tie. But I have been wearing button suspenders for many years, and that ties the whole look together. A fedora and button suspenders is classic casual.

Sure you can wear a hat with something other than a suit. However, the style of the hat has to match the style of the rest of your clothes. With jeans, etc., wear a hat that has a casual look, or is well-worn. An elegant hat worn with jeans, etc. looks as goofy as a baseball cap worn with a suit.

Leasure suits and track suits!

Ohhh Contrare!

A light blue leasure suit with white patent leather shoes and a wiiiiide brimed fedora...now that is some stylin! (admittedly "pimp-daddy stylin) but it still completes "the look"

It also seems to me that Rocky Balboa pulled off the "track suit and brim up lower eastside fedora" look rather well.

Just my thought...your milage may vary.
