No more Pfeffernusse!

I just went to my local supermarket, hoping to find my favorite Christmas Confection, Pfeffernusse, made by Stella D'oro, and they didn't have it! All sorts of other holiday cookies, but no pfeffernusse. So I asked the manager, and he told me that Stella D'oro was sold a couple of years ago to Nabisco, who sold it to somebody else, and now the bottom line is they don't make pfeffernusse any more. I am MAJORLY BUMMED OUT! I always looked forward to getting the powdered sugar all over my front, and enjoying the delicious spice cake insides of these wonderful German goodies. You can still get the imported ones, if you can find them. DRAT! These blasted corporate takeovers!

I hated 'em till I was of a certain age and was hipped to the dipping tradition. You ideally want Glühwein, that delicious hot spiked wine potion. But coffee works, too.

I found some at...of all places....Dollar Tree! Old Germany brand. Went to get some more at a different one (I was in a differ part of town when I was in that Dollar Tree) and they had none. Happy one moment, sad the next.

Jonnysan, you're the second person to make such an offer. Loungers are THE BEST!!! But really, with my blood sugar issues, I really don't NEED more cookies in my life. I guess Stella D'oro is just saving me from myself. But there are several Trader Joe'ses (is that the plural of Trader Joe's?) popping up all over the NY area these days. I just might take a look see. Not that I would actually buy any, I mean I really don't need them . . . . but I want them . . . . . . . . . . Maybe I'll just look . . . . . . .
