Nice jacket on Ebay. You know the maker?

I'm pretty sure it is Thedi. The way the stitching where the sleeve is sewn into body only shows halfway down looks like Thedi to me. I've circled what I'm talking about on a Thedi jacket.

Here's a better link: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pr...nuine-leather-jacket/1229407_32697815174.html

The item has the maker listed as "AVIREXFLY" which is probably an infringement on Avirex's trademark.

Comparing to thedi's version, the MTC-127913: I notice the AliExpress jacket has a shoulder yoke, while Thedi doesn't.

Many makers have a similar style jacket to this -- the Aero Aeromarine, the Simmons Bilt "Simmons Bilt".

I had one. Not a bad jacket by any means. Certainly not up to the standards of the top tier makers. Not by a long shot. But not bad and far better than any mall stuff...
Specifically how did you feel it fell short of the top tiers? Materials? Craftsmanship?

I can't make out the label, but the listing says LVC, or Levis Vintage Clothing. If that's accurate, then you might be asking "who made it for LVC". At that point, I don't know:)

THe seller uses LVC and Menlo (the model name of the LVC version of this style) in the auction title, however that seems to be an attempt to manipulate the search returns algorithm, as the auction itself lists it as "unbranded". Which is against eBay rules, but it's amazing how widespread a practice that is, even among commercial sellers that should know better.

My guess is that it's nothing special in terms of a name, or it wouldn't have had its maker's label removed at some point, whether by the seller or a previous owner.

This is from Ali express, it's a knock off. Not a bad jacket. Give me time and I'll provide a link.

Seems most likely. Them I've seen around on eBay a lot; it appears they specialise in copying popular designs (often ripping off their photos too - they've definitely used Aero photos in their auctions, as well as Aero TMs in the titles - Aero Aeromarine and such).

It's a style that was revivied about ten years ago, I think, by Himmel first and then the buzz on thed forums meant most big brands worked up their own version. That seems to attract the likes of Aliexpress. I'm sure that if you were to win it for a song it could well be a serviceable enough garment, though tbh I'd be wary of product quality from a company that is prepared to use the tactics they have in the past to sell. Caveat Emptor, an' aw tha.

Materials. The leather simply isn't nearly as nice. As far as being sewn together...a computer couldn't have done a better job. Actually it probably was sewn up by a CPU.

I bought a genuine leather jacket off a street vender in Prague when I was in college. Had it for 15 years and it never really developed much of a patina. Then I bought a schott 641. Obviously we're comparing a $800 jacket to a $150 dollar jacket, but whoa mama. Once you've worn a decent hide, you just can't go back. It's money well spent.
