People had odd names for women and their body parts. Gams, Dishes, Dames...
What other names did people use? Did women find them offensive?
What do you think a woman would say today if you told her she had "nice gams" or called her a 'dame'?

bombshell, kitten, Canary (usually a singer)

Main queen -- favorite girl friend, sweetheart

Mouse -- Usually a small, very feminine girl who invites being cuddled

'Barn burner -- A very stylish, classy woman

While a Skirt was a woman, a Pro Skirt was a Prostitute.

Your Moll would be your girlfriend, But a GunMoll was a girl you didn't mess with.

And a Pidgeon might have been a young girl, but a stool Pidgeon would have leaked all your secrets.

Another unflattering term for a woman was a "frail". Also, In addition to "gams" women's legs could be called "stems" or "pins". As in "That frail's got pins up to here (usually accompanied by a holding your hand palm down beneath your chin)"

If anyone has the New York Confinential paper, check the back few pages. Like an early Dell Map on the back, it had a list of terms used in the book and what they ment.

A newish one that I've learned here on the west coast is surfer slang taken from the Flintstones...

Betty: Good looking girl
Barney: Guy who's not cool or a surfer
