I would like to see our loungers post pictures of themselves in hats and suits as close to period accurate as possible in black and white photo's. I will start with a few.

NOW LETS SEE YOURS!!!!

It would be wonderful if you could present them like old photographs, Film Noir, Art Deco, or French New Wave.

Some info of your inspiration, what your aspire to be like, and influences in the photo's. A description of your clothing would all be nice.

Wonderful picture. Lots of attitude. The hat really seems to frame your face well. Is it vintage or custom? The hat has a very 20's feel to it. While the suit has a late 40's(maybe 80's) look to it. Thank you for sharing.:) ;)

The hat is my VS custom "1928 Reunion" patterned after one my grandfather was wearing in an old photo (from June, 1928) that Art made for me several months ago. The suit is relatively new. It's wool, in midnight blue. There was no real attempt to pattern it after any specific era suit (hey, when you wear a size 60 extra long you learn to take what you can get). :)

Did you say "attitude" ...

Well, if you're looking for "attitude" and a "vintage look", how about this? while it's not a suit, it most certainly is representative of what was seen a lot around here in the 1930's.

This one says "1920's politician" to me more than the others.

I totally agree! You look like you're either going to go bust up some stills or go after the 'shiner that had the nerve to start up a still without coming to see you first to give you the nice gift that all the other 'shiners and bootleggers usually give you.

On second thought, I'll go with the latter as you have no axe or dynamite in your hands.

Yup, that's the look, all right. I've long liked that bib-overalls-with-lapeled-jacket-and-fedora look seen in period photos. This is pure speculation, but I'm thinking it had a lot to do with hard times. Stuff got used until it was worn out, and then it got used some more. So an already well-used sports jacket, or a suit jacket that somehow got separated from the matching pants, got worn with whatever else the man was wearing because it retained the essential virtues of providing the right amount of warmth for the day's weather as well as some pockets to hold whatever might come in handy.
