Thanks gents, it definitely is a cool jacket. I was right about the tag- used by LL from 58’ or so to 85’ or so. And the sleeve zips are Conmatic, not Talon. Do you guys think it’s probably HH, based on the photos and probable age of the jacket? If any of the other TFL Outerwear Illuminati see the photos, I certainly would appreciate additional takes.
For ref:
Ideal main zip. Talon both sleeves, pockets and extra sleeve zips unmarked??
July 1985 Columbia.
Hope that helps.

I thought Langlitz used a green tag and the tag said horsehide on it?

As I recall, the different green tags (speedway togs mostly) were initially used (hard to find, let alone in good condition, and they are pricey) by LL. I recently saw one at $3K. Then the move to the white label, with its different variations. I do not recall any mention of HH on the actual green labels.

You are probably right J. I thought I recalled seeing a green LL tag with horsehide along the top. I agree, they are VERY rare. If I see anything, I will definitely let you know.

I’ve only seen the green tags online. No way am I expert. I am pretty sure I only know enough to be dangerous.

Per @sweetfights advice, I reached out to Scott at LL. Here is his reply:

“Well, unfortunately, she’s not giving up many secrets. The front zipper has been replaced, and the Conmatic’s point to late 50’s to mid 60’s. It looks like cowhide to me, as it’s not showing any of the tell-tale horsey wrinkles you’d expect to see on something of that vintage. But, anything’s possible. But, if I had to put money on it, I’d say it’s cowhide from the early 1960’s. It’s a beauty, that’s for sure! I wish I could tell ya more, but that’s it.”

Well, there you go— for those interested.

Late 50's to early 60's is fantastic. A piece of wearable history!!!!!
Thanks for the update.

The new to me cascade showed up today. Its an off the rack 50 which is what my columbia is based off of. First impressions, the cascade is slightly trimmer fitting. I knew they had let the chest out a hair on my columbia so the cascade isnt really tight through the chest, but i have to suck in a smidge to get the zipper all the way up. Past the gut/lower chest it goes freely. The sleeves on my columbia are also maybe an inch longer. Overall im pretty happy with the fit of the cascade but the big difference is the goat. The columbia is medium cow, the cascade is their goat. The cow is very smooth, not much grain to it. The goat is a very soft, pebbly type grain and has some give to it. It feels like a lighter jacket in the ease of movement. I really like the goat, im almost questioning if i shouldve gotten the columbia in goat i like it so much. Ill see about posting some pics of both tomorow.
