+1 Mingo

Jeff at Delmonico's said he'd put an order in if some of us wanted one. Might have to wait til the summer for Hatco to ramp up felt production again

I have to wonder about the price tag on the new Stetson hats. For just a little bit more, you can get a custom with better felt, better fit, and styled exactly to your specifications. Just sayin'.

I'd guess you guys know by now that Sterling Leather has the Absinthe.

I'm going to try to go there hopefully in the next week or two, Bucks County/New Hope is about an hour away from me. We'll see if they actually have any of these in stock. Will let you guys know what I find out.

Matt's Instagram is full of cool looking stuff: purple-trim Strats, cognac Whippets with green trim, reissued derbies & homburgs...

He's going to cost me a lot of money :)

I wish there was more about where and when this stuff will be available.

I'll add, Joao, that Deckard's Instagram does have several pictures of westerns, although the fedoras definitely outnumber them. I saw several shots of the Boss reissue, a custom Boss in white for a country singer, a Tom Mix, and a bunch of unidentified white cowboy hats with what look like wide brims and fairly tall crowns with a Gus crease. There were also several shots of straw westerns.

So there are some wide-brims on his site, but the dress models appear more often.

Don't think anyone has seen all the ribbon combo's on the new hats. I ordered 4 of the new open crowns from Jeff a month or so ago. At that time he was trying to get more info on the Whippet, and the Racine open crowns. Haven't heard back. I ordered the Whippet in Sage and the Racine in black.........mmmm think it was the Racine in black....lol

That was my best semi-educated guess until someone more knowledgable chimes in. A silk finish should be a more luxurious feel than sanded (pounced) finishes.

That's a good description. I have a Stetson Hampton and used to have a Stetson Brewster, both in Sovereign felt with silk finish (it looks like Royal Deluxe is the new Stetson designation for Sovereign). The Hampton is quite velvety, and feels more like vintage to me, fairly malleable. They are indeed a bit shiny and really nice to touch, sort of like a short-haired velveteen rabbit.

I posted a review of the Brewster here on the lounge, the pictures show the texture of the silk finish:

I'm considering an Absinthe. However it comes in Sage. Anyone have a sage stetson? I have tried looking on Google but two images can look quite different.
I have a BG Campdraft and would probably not consider the Sage if it was too similar to the Campdraft.

I've had a sage Chatham for many years. It is a go-to hat for me, as it goes with tan outerwear well, but also gray. In the daylight, it has a distinct green cast, like a muted olive green. In the evening it really just looks medium gray.
