I just won this today and I am hoping it is what I think it is. If it is I will be very happy.

So what do you think it is, Douglas? Besides another nice vintage hat to add to your extensive collection, I mean.
As always, enquiring minds want to know.

That thing looks oooold- 1920s maybe, or maybe early 30s,
if I were to guess from the hat and box. And NOS to judge
from the tag on the front of the sweatband.

Looking forward to your photos when it arrives.

Very nice Douglas! Seems like we're in a new wave of buying spree again;)

I think it is what you think (very good example of a fine, early gentlemen's fedora). And it's from one of your favorite maker too, isn't it?

To this day i still remember that big Portis of yours from the same seller where i got a brown hat with the unusual bow.

From the name of the hat (the Breeze) and lack of a liner I am hoping that it is a summer weight felt. If so it should be very soft and pliable. I am really enjoying this type of hat lately.

Astaire,Portis is one that I am seeking out now. They made a really good product. I remember you got that hat that was Spanish.

Very nice Douglas!! Portis has always been one of my favorites also. Their design seems so "avante guard" to me considering when they were made.
I agree, it looks early. I don't think '20s, but early.
Enjoy

It is a gamble but I think it is going to to a winner. For a mid ranged hat company they sure made a great product.

Douglas , that is a great hat. Portis lasted until the late 1960's and eventualy became a glove company. The line was taken over by Stevens Hats . They made the most interesting boxes for their hats!
