New pair of Role Clubs engineer boots

It was a long wait for my Role Club boots but certainly worth it. Just recieved this pair of brown horsehide engineer boots from 'Brian the bootmaker" and they are stunning. The custom fit is perfect. Can't wait to start breaking these in.

these are the absolute best. I have two pairs of RCs and I'm getting a third soon in black HH

these are mine...

I do not recommend water proofing them or anything like that. It takes away the beautiful complexity of the leather. I've worn these just about every day since I got them. Hope the conditioned layer fades and they lighten up some over time...

Anyone know how to get them back to how they looked?

Quick question since these are my first engineer boots; do you leave them unbuckled and then buckle them up tight every time you put them? Or just leave them buckled but loose enough to slip them on? Thanks

I leave then unbuckled then buckle them up once my feet are in.

Run the risk of breaking the buckles if u leave them.

I have some very nice Chippewa 50's reproduction boots made for me by a master shoemaker in Guanajuato. He does recommend to use wax polish. I have been using "El Oso" brand. I believe Brian the boot maker can get you the contact with sellers of this old school wax shoe polish. I get mine from Mexico everytime I visit. Funny story, my Chihuahua decided to mark the boots as I was taking a shower. Thanks to the shoe wax polish no damage was done to the beautiful light brown horsehide.

I leave mine buckled up all the time. Since I keep them somewhat loosely buckled they are easy to slip on and off this way.

Awesome! Best I've seen. I leave my Chippewa Engine boots bucked (not tightly so) and slip on & off. But these are well broken in too.

Chippewa 50s reproduction engineer boots? Could you please explain further? I would kill for a modernmade pair that looks EXACTLY like a 50s pair of Chippewa engineer boots.

Chippewa 50's style is very much like a western type toe in my view. There are some differences, however. You see my friend (shoemaker) copy a pair of the original I was wearing. He took my measurements and made a pair for me on the spot. I stayed with him through the entire process. Leon, Guanajuato is the capital of leather and shoe making in Mexico. There are many people who still cultivate their craft and sell locally to people. I believe role club's mentor is a gentleman who learned his craft in Guanajuato. The bottom line, items my friend made were made in the old way of crafting shoes. The modern toes in this particular boots are cool but not for me. Writing this, I must admit I own several modern boots such as rw 6228.

I've had several pairs over the years, and the buckles play no part. You slip them on and off like cowboy boots. I would think the more you buckle and unbuckle, the more you advance wearing the buckle out. I would definitely not buckle them tightly so they have rub on the boot. In other words, they are just for style IMO.
