I was shocked by the price, but then I saw that it's actually fully lined in Mouton with a Mouton collar, so more of a luxurious tribute than a reproduction. If you've got the dough, it looks incredible.

I don't disagree although real mouton jackets are often sold for crazy retail prices. I only saw it because I check the Dehen site to see if they are listing any sale items. Their full retail is often tough to swallow even though they make terrific stuff.

Lovely jacket, but too rich for my blood. I like the idea of the exterior being waxed cotton.

It isn't a new jacket. I was also shocked by the price when I first saw it last year. I don't really understand how they price this item when the most expensive Japanese repro with 100% alpaca lining is less than half of the price of the Dehen. May make sense if it was a Ralph Lauren purple label or Burberry's or even Visim fashion repro.

I agree, although this is clearly made with different materials; shell, knits, lining, collar, and added inside pocket. The only big difference is that I am assuming good quality mouton is much more expensive than alpaca, but alas that is just another assumption. I do like the fact that they have added the inside pocket to this jacket, as I've come close to buying an N-1 a few times and then remember that it's only got the open slash pockets.

Yes, I believe that's the timing of their sale. I'll be watching closely for that and if one of us sees it we should spread the word. (after we make sure we get the sizes that we want first, of course)

Actually, a quick look on the RMC website shows that their extreme deck coat, which IS lined in mouton, is actually $1800, or $550 more than the Dehen jacket. It's a different coat, but constructed of a cotton shell with a mouton collar and lining. Maybe Dehen pricing is not that far out of line after all.

I love it. When I can wear it. I live in SoCal, and don't get a lot of time in it, but when I do, I love it. Very warm. I just wish it was longer - being 6'-4" tall.

I don't own any Pike Bros yet. But I hope to in the near future. They do great shirts that will actually fit me, and I quite like some of their denim offerings. I think they did Black Friday last year? I'm hoping they do something this year.

That'll be the dollar staying as strong a it has over the last couple of years. Still only USD 1.5 to the pound; a USD is almost worth a whole Euro now, which wasn't the case a few years ago.

They also do a vest styled on the N1. A deck jacket will be coming along shortly.

The IH jacket uses a woven Alpaca lining, whereas the Dehen and RMC use Moulton fleece. I'm guessing that the price differences are because they're not a like-for-like comparison.

Heh. I'm still kicking myself for not going to the US in 2008, the glory days of USD2.20 to the pound! I didn't have an electronic passport back then, though, and I didn't fancy being fingerprinted at JFK, so I holidayed elsewhere that year.
